i have a problem with same sex partners having the ability to adopt children. If they wanna parade around and yell gay pride( thats fine by me). But when you bring innocent children into an enviorment that is frowned upon by most, it can be damaging pyshcologically. Obviously Faried is a success story, but if you were to go on percentages, i doubt they would be high on the ones who end up normal

This is brutal logic and grammar. Take a deep breath and step away from the punditry.

This argument was used to justify banning interracial marriage in the South until 1967. Children of interracial couples were not accepted and in many places still aren't. So by your logic, you would still want to keep a ban on interracial couples from becoming parents by law too?

Anecdotally, I know a gay couple with a daughter who grew up in a very strong and healthy household. Who is to say that your presumptions about percentages are right? Moreover, you could say that given that the majority of marriages end in divorce, we should simply keep people from procreating in general given the psychologically scarring effects of divorce, of which a majority of marriages result.

I think it's on the environment to change so that it's not okay to bully or abuse children for raised by gays or of mixed race couples, etc.

Ya, people are right during the season when Shaq left for PHX. I believe it was. Was when Kobe had called a ref a "bleeping ***got." SO that kind of led to the Grant Hill stuff; who I guess was the first.

That is some dumb **** right there.

How can anyone can believe that gay marriage is going to lead to an epidemic of straight roommates getting married for tax benefits? Mind boggling. And then to think that Democrats are going to use this to cut back on the tax benefits for married couples and families. Have you ever read a newspaper? Jesus. Where does this ish come from?

Please post some source or evidence for just one of the insane points you make above.

Classy move. Personal ideology aside, discrimination isnt right.

I personally don't agree with it. I rather not be around flaming gays, who are hell bent on acting more feminine than the average female. I have gay friends, i don't treat them any differently. I'm on the fence of marriage. With divorce rates so high, how can anyone really say they want to protect the sanctity of marriage? That was gone once Vegas had marriages and divorces all in one weekend. And any real conservative could care less, because this is big government poking their nose in people's private lives and all people should be treated equal.

Tim Hardaway got a lot of flack for what he said, but I'm sure in his private circles, he wasn't so demonized. He should have been smarter with his comments, but was he really that off base. All he said was he rather not associate with that community. He said nothing derogatory, and is free to have his opinion. that part of it I didn't like. The gay community should understand that a good portion of people will always believe that its a choice. If people don't want to share you're same opinion, i dont think they should be vilified either.

I agreed with not bullying children or adults because of them or someone in their family being gay, be it parents or siblings, whatever.

But I really wish people would stop equating being gay to being a certain "RACE" and using racism and the civil rights movement as a crutch for the gay movement. IT IS NOT THE SAME, and it is insulting to african americans and other races that have been discriminated against.

One can not choose to be another race, but even if one is inclined towards the same sex, a person can choose not to have sex in their lifetime if they so desired.

The gay movement needs to find another cause to attach themselves too and stop insulting those who fought against racism.

well it's like if i start referring to things i don't like as - "that's black" or "that's asian".

you probably don't understand cause you don't empathize well.

Don't be so hetero, its not a matter of empathy its a matter of sensitivity. I'm Persian, do you think it would piss me off if someone said "that's so Persian", or when people ask if I'm related to the cat? Its not a big deal. Also, Asian and Black are races, gay and straight are sexual orientations, so your metaphor falls short. My notion of substituting straight/hetero for dumb is a hell of a lot more apt.

Faried seems like a really cool guy. Hope more athletes come out to support the cause like him. Hard to believe that an active athlete in a prominent league hasn't come out of the closet in 2012. Let's hope the atmosphere becomes more welcoming in general (might have to wait for all the old *****s to die first though).

A solution to this problem would be to limit tax breaks given to married couples without children. The government's response will NOT be to remove all married couple tax breaks when there is plenty of evidence around the globe that birth rates in developed nations are on the decline. The US birthrate is barley above replacement rate, it is hugely important for the economy to keep it there or grow it.

There have been numerous studies done comparing children of gay parents to regular parent and there are few that show that children of gay parent are significantly handicapped, most show no difference. Also consider that many children of gay parents are adopted; adoption agencies make sure the couple undergo a rigorous application process. Gay parents who adopt children are removing them from a far worse situation of constant foster care which has shown numerous negative effects on children.
