Espn reported that Dream strained a tendon, that is worse then an ankle, what is the real story? DaDakota http://espn.go.com/nba/2001/20001019/recap/porhou.html Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon, who has announced this will be his last season, suffered a strained tendon in his left foot during the first quarter and did not return. ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
I saw him walking around the bench. He looked fine to me. I dont know how he got injured, they go to commerical break and they announce he is injured. I actually didnt react in any way, I just went on with the game. Im so use to him getting injured , I just dont give a damn anymore. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
I saw him come down awkward when he was fouled on a shot, he winced a little, but went to the freethrow line and shot his 2 shots, then continued to play. I wonder if this is just more of a Rudy being cautious thing? DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
Yeah I think he probably came down sort of awkard and since Rudy doesn't want Hakeem's season to end before it even begins, he had him sit out. Hopefully it was just a precaution and nothing serious. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Good news, bad news, I can't tell. The article goes from "out indefinately" to Hakeem saying it's nothing to worry about. You be the judge. <HR WIDTH=75%> HOUSTON -- Hakeem Olajuwon, trying to overcome an ashma-like breathing disorder and play his final NBA season with the Houston Rockets, strained a tendon in his left foot Thursday night and could be out indefinitely. Olajuwon Olajuwon called the injury nothing major. It came in the first quarter of an exhibition game against Portland in North Little Rock, Ark. But team physician Dr. Walter Lowe said Olajuwon could miss the rest of the preseason and more if a tear is found. No tear was expected but Lowe considered prescribing an MRI for Friday. "This is not your typical ankle sprain," Loew told the Houston Chronicle in Friday's editions. "It's a strain of his posterior tibia tendon on the inside of his foot. He still has strength in it so I don't think it's torn. But it is something that could be more than a game or two." Olajuwon, 37, who has announced his retirement at the end of this season, needs every bit of practice time he can get because of the breathing condition that forced him to miss the final 14 games last season. Olajuwon also underwent hernia surgery last season. Olajuwon has controlled the condition with medication but needs the preseason to get into playing shape. "I feel for him," Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "He's been working hard. For big players, practice, live practice, is so important to get their timing." Olajuwon hopes for a quick recovery. He played 12 minutes against the Trail Blazers, went 0-for-4 from the field and got eight rebounds. "When I did it in the first quarter, I played with it," Olajuwon said. "When I sat down, I realized I have to put pressure on it. That's why I came in to ice it and tape it. So it's nothing to worry about." ------------------ "Not just a layup, but a mundane layup." -- Calvin Murphy, not realizing that a mundane layup IS just a layup.
I had tendonitis. I couldn't walk for three months. I think he's got something fairly mild if he can walk on it. The MRI will reveal all, but it sounds like it's all going to be ok. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
