Some points from the Cantonese (one kind of spoken Chinese) ESPN commentators. I think some of you might be interested to hear.

    1. Yao Ming changes our team a lot. We were a 1-on-1 team in the past but now we can at least play some inside outside stuff with him.

    2. Our offense is more smooth when our 1st pass goes to Yao.

    3. Mo Taylor should take less outside jumpers. He can be our primary inside presence in the 2nd unit (with Yao out).

    4. Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis did develop some bad habits during their ISO days. But they aren't selfish players and should be given time to adjust to an inside-outside game with Yao.

    5. Yao needs to learn to develop deeper position in the post. Sometimes it's not the guards' fault he's not given the ball because his position is too far away from the basket.

    6. Glen Rice is best used with a center who could draw double team (Yao in our case).

    7. We should add a younger version of Glen Rice with defense in the summer. Then our roster is very much complete.

    8. Give this team 1-2 years to develop chemistry. We will be a very good team in the future.

    I want Brent Barry!

Thanks for the translation... ESPN is quickly becoming an international empire.

heech, you see Barry has 14 assists through 3 quarters tonight? I think he would be a great addition to the team.

I agree totally...we need time to gel. Ming also needs to get this season behind him as soon as possible....because he gets some really bad no calls...and i think its because hes a rookie. Maybe he will get some of those calls going his way next year.

Well, this isn't exactly the same team from 3 years ago. Making Ming the focus of the offense is gonna change everything from the previous 2 years.

This is the key. Did they just "develop" those bad habits? Or are they just not very good players? We shall see...

That's cool. They are pretty much correct.

Yao has made the NBA international.

OKAY...BRENT BARRY!!! Yeah...he is awesome. I wish we could have him. He can shoot...AND he can pass. SIXTEEN ASSISTS?!?!? in his first game as point guard. That's amazing.

Actually, anyone who said that 3 years ago (or even 2 years ago) was full of crapola. Anyone who had any sense thought this team would be back in the playoff picture by this season or next and, hopefully, back in the championship hunt by 2004 or 2005.

Yao just sped up that process by maybe a year, but if anyone thought that this team was going to be a serious contender by this season or next, they were not in thier right minds.

Let's not fool ourselves. This team can be good, but they'll never be excellent because the roster is structurally flawed. Some players need to be moved, some contracts need to be dumped.

Because Brent Barry had 500 assist, and he is not a true PG, you guys want him now?

Brent Barry didn't have 300 assist against the Rockets, yet you guys haven't salivated over him.

I was at the sonics game last night and Barry played real well. Its still kind of scary to watch him run point sometimes though, he can get out of control. 16 assists still caught everybody by suprise.

I'd take him. He has passing skills, and his height alone can give us better defensive presents than Moochie could.
