I need to do a 8-10 page paper for my relational database class. I am looking for a good topic I can find articles and stuff on. I have no clue what to write for 8 pages. These are some proposed ideas by the TA. 1. The history of relational database technology 2. A comparison of the Oracle, IBM and Microsoft, Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). 3. A survey of open source Relational Database Management Systems. 4. A survey of specialized relational databases (i.e. Teradata, Netezza, DATAllegro). 5. Desktop relational database systems: past, present, future. 6. History and role of the structured query language in relational database technology. 7. Data modeling and database design tools. Thanks/reps.
Not an expert in database, but seems the two hottest topics are cloud (the previous big thing) and Big Data (this year's big thing). So perhaps you can look at how RDBMS works in the cloud, or how cloud impacts RDBMS. Or... the same questions re: Big Data. Especially since some believe Big Data will roll over RDBMS.
