Again **** Howard. He's getting paid 19 million dollars this year, and whining about hurting his chances at possibly getting MOAR money next year. Steve Nash and Kobe are desperate to win it all THIS year, while Howard is content to let idoits out there support him giving up on his team. Bottom line is it doesn't matter if you don't win. You play the odds and compete anyway. That's like saying you would only bet with pocket pairs in poker, and fold if you had anything less. That's NOT how you build legacies. Nash is playing with nerve damage in his legs, Kobe's fingers are all but destroyed. Howard was shooting frign three pointers with that failing shoulder in warmup, I'm sure it can stand some movement during games. He got out rebounded by Norris ****ing Cole! Seriously **** him, and **** the League if this is the type of players that will represent it.

I wouldn't love it. I'd be extremely skeptical that he would be the player that is going to take us to the next level. Of course...I was pretty skeptical when we traded for Harden, and that proved to be an amazing move.
As it stands right now the Lakers need to go 21-8 in the final 29 to get to 45 wins. Does anyone here actually think they can get there? Conversely, we to go 17-12 the rest of the way to get there.
Exactly. Standing there with his hands up like a freaking statue. What pass was he asking for? Through the backboard? Over it? Honestly, it smacks of wanting to show Nash up, holding them up in the air like that, rather than trying to move into a position for a pass, and keeping them up after the play was over. Everyone in the arena and watching on tv sees him holding his arms up and understands that he's trying to send a message that he was open and Nash is the one who screwed up. After all, it's the point's job to deliver the ball to the open man, right? You have to work to get the ball, idiot. Dwight Howard is basically that guy in the gym that just camps out in the corner and waves for the ball every time down and screams "I was open!!" every time his team turns it over or someone else misses a shot, like you're an idiot for not passing it to him every time, regardless of the situation. All that said, If he had his hands anywhere close to the right place in that situation, he would have been able to catch that pass, even after the deflection, which is pretty good on Steve Nash's part. Of course, if Howard could have been bothered to take a step either to his left or his right and not stood still with 2 guys between he and Nash in the first place, he would have been open to begin with. What was he hoping to accomplish, other than a 3 second call? This might not have been the best example, but the idea that Howard seems to be lacking effort pretty often, for whatever reason (injury? fear of pain? being a douche?), is pretty well borne out at this point. If he signed with the Rockets, there would obviously be buzz, and he'd pull people in with some good games, but he is just not a guy you can count on in the clutch. Maybe it would be ok because Harden can be that guy, but I still wouldn't love committing what it will take to get Howard here to a guy like that. He disappears because he doesn't seem to "want it" enough. Too much ego to try to get better by listening to anyone else or adapting his game. When things get tough, he's fine with losing as long as he's getting his numbers so he can say "I did all I could, I wasn't the problem- check my stats". He cares too much about image and soundbites and the appearance of winning not enough about actually winning. In short, I think he's a loser. He could change, but I wouldn't want to bank my favorite team's next 5-6 years on it. Luckily, he wouldn't sign in Houston anyway- less guaranteed $$ available than the Lakers. A guy like that never signs for less than the max if it's available. Of course, the Lakers might get fed up by seasons end and not offer it. All I know is, if the Laker actually manage to pry good players loose from Houston in sign and trade in exchange for the privilege of signing this prima donna, I will not be happy.

Who knows how much Dwight's injuries are bothering him. What is disturbing is Dwight is insisting he needs more touches and shots. Nearly every play he is flat footed and demands the ball on the block. The man has NO post moves. He rarely gets off a good hook/ garbage shot in the post. He can't take contact in the post, and eventually turns it over or forces a terrible shot. To make matters worse he has absolutely no jump shot. I agree with the many people in the thread that he has relied on his athleticism for so long that he has slacked on learning the absolute basics of being a big man. The guy wants max money for minimum effort. Please stay away from the Rockets.
I understand all the Howard hate. I really do. He's a self-centered diva who has decided that he is NOT going to be told where and when to give his 100% effort. He was traded to a place that wasn't on his list (of one), and he's decided to feel victimized by that. He might come out in the media and talk about how he's just trying to play basketball, and leave all the pettiness to others, but his body language clearly tells a different story (as does his lack of effort). However, with that being said, the Lakers are doing a fabulous job of alienating him even further, which in turn gives him even LESS motivation to try. He's basically taken a stance of, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." Guys like Earl Clark b****ing and moaning about Dwight being the reason for losses is exactly what the Lakers DON'T need. It's obvious nobody in that locker room likes Dwight, so they make him the scapegoat....for better or worse.
