how long is it till he can be traded? he is the most useless, worthless basketball player in the world. he is nothing. anyone his size can do the things he does. i mean you take any guy with the same body type as collier and you could teach anybody to be as good as he is. ANYBODY. he has no talent. if we were to base tomjanavich's job on this draft and the dickerson, mobley, drew draft, he should be fired. any player would have been better than this guy. he is horrible. im starting the 'i hate collier' wagon. 9th pick overall = Jason freaking Collier. so anyway, what is the soonest he can be traded. can we cut him? he is lucky is a fat guy, because that has some of you overoptomistic shmucks thinking he can be a force in the paint. i would rather have any other big man in the nba other than this guy. you name it id rather have it. and this is all after three preseason games. i'd like to see him prove me wrong, but i'd also like to beat the lakers and win the championship. probably wont happen. this guy will end up in europe or in the cba in 5 years, mark my words. wheres serge zwikker? go rockets. think negative, and positive things happen. ------------------ when will it start to almost break you?
Dude, put down the bottle and give AA a call. Your post sounds like the long-winded ramblings of someone who has had too much to drink. I can't agree with you on Collier, because I can't make a decision after three games. Unless alcohol is clouding my view. ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet
Is your last name Caulfield by any chance? Can we delete this thread too? BTW, Collier was the 15th selection not the 9th. That distinction belongs to Pryzbilla-- never a Rocket by the way. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. www.FlashAdvantage.com
Holden, We should hold on to Collier a while longer before we give in to the urge (collectively speaking) to trade him. I wouldn't waive him-there's something about paying for nothing that bothers me). And you just don't have a basis for disliking him so much. Compare Collier's stats in college with Michael Doleac's and you'll se that Collier was better in almost every category than Doleac all the way through college. Now look at Doleac's numbers the past two years in the NBA. My point: Collier can be as good as Doleac or better in the NBA. You haven't seen enough to be so disgrintled. Why don't you see how Doleac fared in two pre-season games (I haven't been able to)? But as to trading him, I wouldn;t do it before the all-star break, and I'd really rather wait until after a full year has passed. This gives him an opportunity to prove his worth, prevent us from being mad for listening to you , and as a safety net, it allows for us to display Collier's strengths in a controlled atmosphere and for us to take advantage of a situations where a team needs a player in a pinch. Don't jump the gun or you might wind up biting the bullet... ------------------ "Liberalism not only legitimizes envy, jealousy, ignorance, and the lack of moral standards, but it also makes these attributes virtues." --Drake Raft
delete them all, baby. put me out of my misery. ------------------ when will it start to almost break you?
Did you just call us "overoptimistic schmucks?" Holden, I am beginning not to like you. No wait, I never did. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Serge Zwikker is playing in Spain. He played collegiately for Dean Smith at UNC which leads all colleges in 1st round picks (read fundamentally sound). Zwikker (like Collier)was NOT a Lottert pick. He was a project. Zwikker is NBA history. Collier (and the Bucks pick) are TBD. Let's give them both a chance. Collier, as most fans know, can not be traded until December 15th. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited October 17, 2000).] [This message has been edited by GATER (edited October 17, 2000).]
I remember quite a few people complaining when we drafted Robert Horry. All he did was contain Charles Barkley and Karl Malone during the two championship seasons. But I don't recall his first season being all that wonderful(little offense, few rebounds). So cut Collier some slack. If he gives us what Horry gave us in his second and third year, he was well worth the 15th pick. And maybe the extra first rounder will land us Eddie Curry or tyson Chandler(assuming they come out). ------------------
Actually if I remember correctly Horry started his whole rookie campaign and had us all thinking we had the next Scottie Quitten. So I beg to differ about Horry not being all that great his rookie year. As far as Collier I never liked him and you can go look up what I said about him a couple of months before the draft, BUT I feel everyone needs a chance, and I am willing to give him one since we have no other choice. Lets put it this way I would be happy to see Collier be as effective as Danny Schayes or Joe Kleine thats how poorly I feel about his game. Just set some picks and hit some 15-16 footers and I will be happy. I really feel Rudy and CD are up to something big this coming offseason thus the picking for depth and not quality. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
But to answer your question we can't trade Collier until December 15th which is a long long long long long time.
It's good to know we have psychics here at CC.net that can tell everything about a player after 3 games. Why do we even have a season? I mean, since you already know how everything will turn out, why can't you just anoint some team as this year's champion and then we end it right now? ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Uh, Horry is and has been a bust seeing how he was the #11 pick in the draft... I don't care about Harold Miner either... Collier is a fat guy who should not have been traded for... Pryzbilla brings the Rockets some toughness and defense... Something that the Rockets need badly... By having Pryzbilla, that makes Cato expendable and maybe a player who we could put on the block for someone from the Suns or Knicks... The one knock on Rudy is that he drafts too many players based on how they "fit in the system"... I don't see how a jump shooting C fits in this system... This pick has Mirsad Turckan written all over it... ------------------
KidRock, You don't see how a jump shooting center fits in our system? WHAT?????? I guess you would rather have a lane clogging center in the middle, so that Francis can't use his insane quickness to get to the rack. You know why Portland almost beat LA last year? Huh? do ya? They had Jump Shooting centers pull Shaq out on the perimeter opening up the inside for the rest of their team. Look, here is a simple rule, if you don't REALLY understand basketball, just keep your opinions to yourself. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
Not even close. Go back and look at the history of #11 picks in the draft. Horry is better than almost all of them. He's not a star or anything- but just go check out the history of #11 picks in the draft. It isn't bright. Compared to other #11 picks, Horry is not even close to a bust. If Pryzbilla brings all of this and makes Cato expendable, why can't he even start over Ervin Johnson in Milwaukee? Pryzbilla is slower than Collier, less of a rebounder, has no post moves at all to go to at this time, etc. I think he'll be the bust of this draft. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Pryzbilla a worse rebounder than Collier??? C'mon there... I know you like the Rockets like I do, but having some common sense should be the norm... So you think that Collier would be the starter on the Bucks? I don't think so... Game One Game One Pryzbilla- Baby Fat 19 mins 9 mins 5 for 5 1 for 3 6 boards 1 reb 1 assist 0 assists 3 blocks 0 blocks Game 2 P- BF- 5 boards 8 mins 1 steal 3 for 6 FT (Shaq-like) 1 TO 2 boards 2 pts 2 TO 24 mins 5 pts 2 blocks 0 blocks Game 3 P- BF- 21 mins 6 mins 1 for 3 shooting 1 for 4 5 boards donut 1 steal donut 1 to 0 2 blocks another donut for BF If you can't see by now... Pryzbilla has 16 boards in 64 mins... 1 per 4 mins... As in higher than the league average for a C/PF... Baby fat averages 1 in every 8 mins... That's making your presence felt huh??? If we needed a C who can shoot the lights out, we might as well put Bullard at C... There is little difference between Bullard and Collier because they both can't rebound or provide any kind of defensive presence... I'd like to see how you try to distort the cold facts now... Baby fat will be lucky to log more PT than Bullard... ------------------ [This message has been edited by kidrock8 (edited October 17, 2000).]
hey holden -- not sure that i disagree entirely re: collier, but if you're saying the dickerson, mobley, drew draft was a bust, and i think you are, you're r****ded. dickerson and mobley were exceptional picks. yes, drew was a reach, but he still has a good chance to be a productive NBA player and perhaps even a starter. pass first -- don't even compare collier to doleac. if you ever saw doleac play in college, you knew that was a guy who knew the game and contributed far beyond the level indicated by his stats. ------------------
Again?Just when did we get rid of HIM the first time, sorry Holden I'm not trying to mouthoff! ------------------ I'm not the type to eat it up but the type to hit it raw dog and seed it up. [This message has been edited by Summer Song Giver (edited October 17, 2000).]
First of all, it's 3 games. Second of all, you said it all right there in your 16 rebounds per 64 minutes. COLLIER HASN'T GOTTEN THE PLAYING TIME PRYZ HAS, SO HOW CAN YOU JUDGE THEM? Also, dispute these hard facts. Collier was the leading rebounder in the ACC, about the top conference in college hoops. He also was one of the top rebounders in the nation. Try arguing with those hard facts. And no, 3 preseason games where he doesn't even get to play enough doesn't overweigh 4 years of college. And if you want to play this stats game, let me show you something else as to how stupid it can be. Pig Miller last year in an NBA season averaged 22.12 rebounds per 64 minutes. So if you go by that as a measuring stick, I guess Pig is better than Pryz! Yeah he's what we need! If we're going by the stats, then how is Pryz better than Pig? ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Holden is just mad because he isn't Collier's b**** anymore. Apparently Collier got tired of his boneheaded rants so he dumped him. ------------------ "No question about it Bill."- Murph
