This is the third game now that I've seen the Rockets lose to the Mavs on national TV. And there were many things that were so bothersome that I had to write this. 1. Those damned Tip in attempts. Just squeeze the board and go back up strong. How many of those missed tip in oppurtunities did we have? 4? 5? those could've easily in turn been 10 points. 2. Nick Van Exel. Somebody please put a body on him! How can you let one of the most deadliest (dagger-wise) shooters/ creative players all time hit a 3 on you right before the end of the 3rd and right at the start of the 4th. 3. Steve Nash and his stupid drive and then stop dribble back turnaround shot. This shot can't be that hard to stop. He's done this move to numerous players. How can they not get this down on his scouting report? 4. Why not give Cato more PT. Yao was struggling and was obviously not going to get any calls from the refs tonight. 5. Give Glen Rice more open shots. I Know he was somewhat off but this is the same Rice that hit 7 against the Suns. The best thing a shooter can possibly do is keep shooting. 6. Rockets crowds lack of enthusiasm. So many other teams home crowds come to their feet and cheer for there teams. Or in situations in the 4th they stand up and clap and try to get their team back into the game. How many times did I see the rockets fans cheer as a whole? 0 times. Sometimes I wish I lived in Houston. Is it embarrassing to cheer for your team? Please show some enthusiasm.
1. I agree with you here. Sometimes I seen that players could've grabbed the ball, but instead tip it to the other team. 2. It happens. Not much you can do... 3. He does it to the whole league because it's not easy to defend. He drives, you moving back to cut him off, and then he stops on a dime and fades for a little 10 footer. 4. Cato has no offense at all. 5. If Rice isn't hitting you have to go to other options. 6. As much as I would like to disagree with you, I think your right. Not sure why the house isn't rockin for the rockets all the time. I guess they have to prove they are winners before everyone gets behind them. Most teams that have loud crowds are those that have a team thats playing awesome.
why is this a joke? he's pretty much dead on on every point. i said the same thing about playing cato. cato would make bradley his b!tch. shawn bradley was probably waiting all year for this game. yao was just off today, and thats ok. but the coaches need to make adjustments. and about the crowd...same thing here. i live in chicago, where they root like crazy for the bulls even though they are terrible. i do not understand having a team like the rockets in your city getting paid no attention to. its pathetic.
Asian is right on the money, especially about the lack of enthusiasm. The last time I saw the crowd really fired up was the Lakers game. Since then the crowd has been kind of flat, but the Rockets don't help the situation when they come out playing like crap or refuse to play defense. I wouldn't have given Cato more playing time at Yao's expense, but I would have played Cato and Yao at the same time, basically a twin towers line-up. Cato and Yao together could get us 20 boards, and it would allow Yao to go out and guard the big men because he knows he has a center who is a shot-blocker and rebounder in the paint. I don't understand why Rudy doesn't play them together, maybe Cato isn't good at PF, but I bet Yao is, Yao's game is similar to Duncan's, and Duncan is probably the best PF in the game. Rudy needs to freaking mix it up sometimes.
Anybody catch the ESPN courtside interview with Sheryl Swoopes where she said that the crowd just doesn't seem to get into the games like they do with the Comets? Ouch.
More people go to AEROS games than the Rockets... OUR TEAM IS LIKE THE MOST POPULAR IN THE NBA...but our own fans don't care. Well they do...maybe Houston is just poor. OR WE ARE WAITING FOR OUR NEW ARENA!!! Please support the Rockets!
I agree that there's a real lack of enthusiasm. It will come in time though. Right now the town is fairly unfamiliar with the team. We've undergone a huge face lift and we're getting an identity. Fan support will come, it will snowball year by year, win by win.
i can see your point on the defensive end with cato and yao playing together, but having them both on offense would be tough. When yao gets the ball in the post and cato's man comes over and double teams him cato can't make anything but a dunk. That would seriously hurt the offense. You need a shooting power forward when yao's in there.
You guys don't know how good you have. I haven't seen one game in NY, Philly, or NJ and I live in Brooklyn. the one game I'm going to see...yep this Tuesday Rockets vs. Knicks. I'm psyched!
