Rockets don't waste talent like many teams do.

I'm not the biggest Cat fan but Im not going to ship him out for dirt either.

Our offense is not as effective without Cat.

Part of the problem is having Moochie Norris, a NBDL player, as your backup 1 and 2.

Every team can use a legitimate scorer. If we're trading him, it better be for someone who can come in and play. I'll assume that at this time there wasn"t anyone available or management wanted to give this group a chance to gel.

If it doesn't get better at some point in the season, Im confident the Rockets will make the proper adjustment - even if it means shipping out one of the dynamic duo.

Riet, I would not suggest trading him for scraps but I would take Redd any day over Mobley. Ray Allen would of been a great addition to this team, but NO WAY the Rockets could match Payton/Mason trade.

Far as our offense working better with Cat, remember when he was injured and Hawkins took his place. My memory is a little vague, but didn't we play pretty strong at that point (without Cat).

Hawkins is not the answer, but we really need a Brent Barry Clone, etc... to compliment Francis in the backcourt.

Actually as long as only ONE of Cat and SF is playing, our team plays quite well because we have to move the ball more. If both Cat and SF are on the court, ball movements tend to disappear.

So tonight, I expect us to be fairly close to the Mavs even if we might still lose.

I like the thread, it is an original for once. I agree with you to some degree. I don't think we should struggle to maintain 8th place, but if we were third in the league right now we would definitely be over acheivers. Hopefully this season can build character and chemistry for our team. This has been a season where everyone has needed to contribute for our success. That feeling of being needed is priceless on a young team and could be a legitimate glue for becoming a great team. I like the way you think glynch and don't worry about the spelling-bee troup.

The Rockets waste talent by not translating an abundance of it into wins, but at least they have that abundance.

I know. I was trying to think of players that the Rockets had "given up on prematurely" or "driven off" as glynch's original post addressed. AJ and Ehlo was the best I could do. It's not much, but noone else has offered anyone, regardless of era.

    What about the Pippen trade??

Given the circumstances, I thought it was the best the Rockets could do. But a casual fan looking at that trade would rate it heavily against us. No matter...I'm glad to be 100% Quitten free.

Also, Matt Maloney comes to mind where Rudy was too patient or too optimistic.

Good post. I hate it when people suggested trades like EG for Brian Grant. That's sacrifice a chance of long term success for a short term fix.

You greatly dishonor NBDL players with that comment. Moochie worked well in the iso offense, but he looks lost now. Not to mention that he is overpayed and his contract is too long. We should've kept Damon Jones.

Rudy and CD are excellent talent evaluators. They seem to always find a diamond in the rough later in the first round and wherever they pick in the second round.
