Cat's 17.7 ppg should be listed at no. 37 along with Steve Nash. But I never see his name on the list. Strange.
I always wondered about this, but I think its because he missed like 9 games due to injury, and the stat ranking does not include players that does not satisfy their minimum game requirement. Shaq is an exception though... -G'day-
You have to play in a certain amount of games OR have a certain amount of points, rebounds, etc. to qualify. Shaq has enough points to qualify to be ranked.
Just looking for a thread about Mobley to say what I've got to say without bothering with a new thread. Even though it seems fashionable to want to run Mobley out and to blame him for all our problems, I still like him. I think he's a good player. I love the contract he has and I think he's one of the best bargains in the league. I hope he isn't traded. That is all.
Despite enormous social pressure to the contrary, I agree 100%. I would add that I don't consider him to be the greatest player ever. In fact, he frustrates the hell out of me quite often, but I think the derision he receives here is ridiculous.
I think to an extent he is the easy scapegoat for our backcourt troubles and the lack of a real point guard on this team. Sure his isolations are part of the problem when the ball isn't getting moved around. But you also have to look at the guy who handles the ball most of the time and takes the most shots- Steve Francis. It just doesn't make total sense to blame the guy who is now the #3 option.
It's because Cat has the greatest trade value because 1) he's actually a pretty good player 2) he's as cheap as they come in terms of his ability 3) he works hard Hmmm...maybe a guy we'd like to keep??
Also, I was listening to ESPN radio around 7AM Sunday, they have this show where they ask an NBA player like 20 questions in rapid fire fashion. Sunday, they had Ray Allen, he was asked about underrated shooting guards and he mentioned Cuttino's name.
I've posted this before...to answer the question of the thread, you must be on track to play 70 games or score 1400 points (which, note, is 20ppg at 70 games). So, if you are under pace to reach 70 games, you must be over 20ppg to hit your 1400 point requirement, like Shaq. Cuttino will not be on track to reach 70 games for 2 more games (ie, game 55).
