Did anyone catch the halftime interview with EG last night?

Usually the halftime stuff with Lisa sucks, so I don't watch. However, I found it pretty funny to see the guy trying to interview EG and get nowhere.

You do know that was satire, right? I'm assuming you do, I just can't tell by your post.

    It was funny.

Nice to see an athlete not take himself so seriously.

And watching his post game interview with Malosky, I think he's starting to open up a bit.

Basically they made fun of the fact that Eddie is considered shy and quiet. The interviewer would ask him numerous questions like "Do you have any basketball idols that you look up to" or "Do you have a favorite color" and eddie would answer every question with "No" or "Not really". It was really funny

My girlfriend and I were cracking up over the interview. Later on we'd ask each other serious questions and the other would reply with a short no or not really. :D Eddie did a great job, and it was nice to see some comic relief during such an up and down season.

What killed me the most were the facial expressions. There was one point when EG was looking at him like, "Okay....get this over with", and Jeff was looking like, "Are ya gonna say any damn thing".

    Here's the complete script:

(Royal music playing in the background with highlights of Eddie's defense)

Jeff Hagedorn - "He is a superstar in the making, a man-child, forged of steel, power, and grace. He is Rockets forward Eddie Griffin, one of the NBA's premier defensive specialists. What Griffin is to the blocked shot, Picasso is to one of those...weird looking paintings. Now, this future legend breaks his silence in this installment of Reel-Time Rockets."

    Interview-

JH - "Over the past couple seasons, you've blocked shots of NBA icons. Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal. How does it feel? What's the emotion that goes through your body when you reject one of the all-time greats?"

    EG - "It's cool."

    JH - "Cool?"

    EG - "Yeah."

JH - (rubs chin, pondering Eddie's response) "Cool."

    EG - "Yeah."

    JH - "Interesting."

    EG - (stares)

    JH - (stares)

EG - (stares back, as if to say, why the hell are you staring at me)

JH - "Is there an art, a science, to the blocked shot?"

    EG - "Not really."

    JH - "No?"

    EG - "Nah."

    JH - (stares)

    EG - (stares)

Break interview, cut to stick-figure diagram with Eddie's head on it:

Hagedorn - "Physics, however, tells us otherwise. Upon review of the subject, there are three precise movements that comprise the art of the blocked shot. One - the act of defying gravity, often referred to as 'leaping,' or, 'jumping.' Two...the arm is raised and drawn backward in a menacing gesture, as if to say, 'Don't bring that [bleep] in here.' And three, point of contact, where the actual block occurs.

    Back to interview:

JH - "Which aspect of the blocked shot do you enjoy the most?"

    EG - "All of them."

JH - "Does one...stand out...above the others, though? I mean..."

    EG - "Not really."

    JH - "No?"

    EG - "Nah."

JH - "Not even..." (trying to grasp at something) "...a little bit?"

    EG - "Nah."

    JH - (stares, shaking head)

    EG - (stares)

JH - (deep breath) "Uh, who are your idols, the legendary shot-blockers that came before you...uh, the guys that you admire?"

EG - "Well..." (looks up in thought, scratching chin)

    JH - "Yes?! Yeah?"

    EG - "Nobody really."

    JH - "Nobody?"

    EG - "Nah."

JH - "Nobody, not even one guy?"

    EG - "Not really."

JH - "Are you sure? Maybe, ah..."

    EG - "Nah."

JH - "Anything else we might want to know about Eddie Griffin?"

    EG - "Not really."

JH - "Nothing. Nothing at all."

    EG - "Nah."

JH - "Hobbies, maybe? Any kind of hobbies?"

    EG - "Nah."

JH - "Heh...alright, uh, what's your favorite color? What's Eddie Griffin's favorite color?"

EG - "Uh, I really don't have a favorite color."

JH - "No, of course you don't. Thanks.

    (More highlights)

"Eddie Griffin. A man whose actions...speak louder than words."

OMG, this was hilarious!! One of the funniest half-time things they've had in a long time. It should be appearing on rockets.com soon, if it's not there already. HILARIOUS! It's funny b/c Eddie looked like he was gonna crack up for a few of those answers. There was a caller to VanDermeer's show this morning who referenced this but apparently didn't get the sarcasm and was talking badly about EG.
