Hey guys. I've recently gotten into PHP and MySQL and let me tell you, I am one rejuvenated web designer. I've never messed around with databases before and I've been building web pages since 1996. My past job mainly had me doing production and maintenance. We always had a team of programmers so I was never really forced to learn anything beyond HTML, CSS, nad JavaScript. At my new job, I'm the only web-type guy here. So I've been faced with having to figure out how to deal with forms and having that information put into a database as well as being automatically emailed to whoever. I started playing around with PHP and MySQL in November and I am loving it. Anyway, I decided to build a brand new web site that would mainly be for family and friends to visit so that they can keep up with the pregnancy and anything else going on in our lives. The problem is that, as it turns out, hardly any of our family or friends frequent the Internet. What's up with that?! Basically, my sister is the only person who visits the site. So I want to extend an invitation to those of you who know me to come and visit my new site and BBS. Wow, cool. Can't say I'm crazy about the colors, but I dig the combination. PHP and MySQL rules, doesn't it? Run that on a Linux or FreeBSD box and you've got Open Source at its best! Check out http://www.devshed.com for some great PHP and MySQL stuff.
