haha man I was just surprised by all those crow's feet. his eyes look all ragged out, like Clinton's.
http://msn.foxsports.com/topics/dev.../how-will-astros-survive-al-west.htm?m_n=true Ken Rosenthal weighs in on the trade...
I think Elmore is more of a 2B. I know they list him as a SS primarily, but he played primarily 2B througout his minor league career.
Love the concept of what they're doing. Still remains to be seen if all of these prospects will form a team that will be a winner...but Lowrie probably gives you 2-3 more wins over a season....I'd gladly sacrifice that for 3 prospects, particularly the kind of prospects you got back for this. Don't be surprised if Peacock makes this a lateral move for 2013 alone in terms of total wins. Obviously the deal isn't about 2013, though.
After reading this, a illustration of our plan comes to mind. Its like planting a forest. And eventually you want all of your trees to see over all the others in the forest, but at the same time. Meanwhile, you have some older trees that take up space and wont ever be as tall as they need to be, so you transplant them to someone elses forest giving you a new place to grow more new ones.
I love that Luhnow is making baseball personnel decisions rather than PR personnel decisions. Nobody wants to be the Pirates. Luhnow is building a 10-15 year window where we can be relevant again. I'd rather be god awful for 3-4 years than mediocre crap for 20 years.
YES. That is the best part. He's literally going for a 10+ year span because he knows it's doable in baseball. Not settling for 1 down year, 2-4 semi-up (maybe strike gold in there, likely not), and then down again
The trade makes a ton of sense. Luhnow is doing a great job. That being said, I do find it appalling that a 100+ loss team is entitled to a significant profit. Baseball does the worst job in sports of giving its teams incentives to spend and field competitive teams. What is being offered this year in Florida and Houston as major league baseball is highly questionable...especially in publicly financed stadiums.
Sad thing is, after reading what you posted earlier today about the new lack of radio coverage, watching or listening to the Astros is not going to be possible for most of us. Really really really want to be a fan as i have for over 40 years, doesn't look like they will make it possible though
where do you live? comcast is an issue in houston...but if you live outside of houston and the radio deal is important to you, iheartradio is your solution. EDIT: maybe not if those games aren't broadcast on the app...which makes sense.
