I thought Alicia Keys star spangled banner was phenomenal. As other posters have said, Beyonce sounded horrible. If she needed to lip sync the entire performance then she should have went that route.
Alicia Keys is a great singer indeed but she can't really put on a show like Beyonce did. She danced and sang at the same time. You guys are not giving her enough credit for putting on a show for 15 MINUTES. It was not a concert but just 15 minutes and she did hell of a job for that. I wasn't expecting it to be good because of all the previous superbowls but she actually did great. She went from dancing and singing to singing just "Halo".. that was pretty darn awesome. Alicia Keys singing > Beyonce Beyonce overall performace > Alicia Keys .. But thats just my opinion.
If that was actually her singing then I don't know how much better she was supposed to sound while doing all that moving around. Can a "good" singer sound amazing while dancing? i dont know. I'm far from a fan of her music but the performance was fine.
Boring halftime show. Most of the songs all she did was hump the air...no real singing, as most of it was prerecorded.
You guys are beyond ridiculous. A lot of ignorance and or hate going around. If you're not a fan, that's one thing, just say: "I'm not a fan." But that performance was nothing short of A1. Visually, musically, vocally, etc. AMAZING band, I'd give the world to be able to go back and really hone in on my craft and play keys in an R&B stage band. Ridiculous how talented those musicians are. And Beyounce rolls with an a female band. Some of yall would find a way to criticize an ice cold glass of water, even after spending an eternity in hell.
Sad that Alicia Keyes is not as popular as Beyonce, she has exponentially more talent and class. Violent thrusting while dressed like a stripper with a slightly above average voice is all it takes to be a diva these days.
I kept thinking it would be just as fun if she didn't bother to sing, they turned off the music, but she continued to dance. It was like "watch me jackhammer the air". You could put a 2x4 under her butt and watch it disintegrate. Not that I minded, of course... LOL.
I still remember when I first heard Alicia Keyes sing (on her Fallin' video) - I don't know when the last time was that I was absolutely blown away by a contemporary "popular" singer like that - hell, by ANY kind of singer. I kept thinking 1) she's fine as hell, 2) she sings ridiculously well, 3) she's got attitude, 4) she plays the piano ... what's not to like?
she doesn't perform in her underwear like Beyonce (who is of course a role model for young black girls)
i felt the alicia keys performance was odd at best. a rendition like that is for a more intimate setting. i found myself saying get on with it a few times because of the 5 second pregnant pauses.
