KT stuffed him (straight up) when Rashard tried a fastbreak slam. Lewis will be proud to play like Carlos Rogers one of these days. Did I say I love KT!<font color="dedfdf"> [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited October 18, 2000).]
I loved that play! KT is waaaaaaay underrated on D, imo. He has quick hands and long arms, and can defend the 3 or 4. ------------------ http://home.swbell.net/rkb3/hr.html = Live Rockets Chat
no matter what we still should have picked lewis over the tomato cans we got instead... that turksan (or whatever the hell his name was) is looking really good right now.. ------------------ I think people are forgetting that we are the rockets... WE DONT REBUILD...WE RELOAD....remember that..
People forget that KT led the Conference in blocks his last year in college (Big West?). Kenny has good defensive instincts, but is limited by his size. Too many people think that he will be no good because he is so much shorter than Garnett or Duncan. Those guys are an exception, not the norm, and they will find ways to score. But, against the smaller guys KT will be just fine. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
hey Pee, I have to disagree with your assessment of R. Lewis. If anything, Lewis reminds me of a soft Ced Ceballos with a decent 3 point shot. C Rogers will be an excellent backup, if he can just stay healthy. Big if. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, lies, and heypeeisms. -DrofDunkingDonuts
HP, I also have to disagree. Lewis would probably be further along in his development if Houston drafted him, especially with the season we endured last year. Rudy would have given him plenty of minutes just to get him game experience and prepare him for possibly a starting role this season. Anyway he isn't a Rocket so fug it! I've been on the Los' bandwagon since last preseason. His athleticism and hustle in the scrimmage last year got me hooked. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Is it the general consensus that KT can guard the three? That's a hell of a tall order--but I always thought that Kenny could "lose a few pounds." What I'm trying to say is: If spent his workout time trying to get faster instead of bigger, could he be our 3 of the future? ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
Pole...good question. Curious, according to our friend Gettingbranded, Chicago is asking the same questions of Fizer. At the 3??? Let me add this question: Is Rogers our backup 3 this year? Last year he was. Remember, the pre-injury plan was Massenberg to backup Barkley along with KT later in the year, and Carlos won a spot on the team as a backup for Wizard (primarily). I recall Rudy saying something to the effecct: "we've got to find a role for this guy, because he is making me keep him." I see Carlos playing the role of Lewis on this team, and doing a better job. This isn't a knock on Lewis's "potential", just a statement that I think Carlos is a better SF than Lewis this year. Man Carlos is deceptively fast to the slam. It's his long arms, IMO.
I see HPee is jumping on another bandwagon ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
Man, I thought I was going crazy .... because I kept thinking Carlos would look so good at the three this year. Especially in the West. He has wheels, looooonnnnnggggg arms, good instinct/game sense, fire/intensity and a shot range that can threat from a couple of complimentry distances (6ft-9ft-16ft). ------------------
Yeah, who would have ever expected such a strong performance by Kenny? ------------------ Hakeem, Hasaw, Haconquered.
We got a 1st round pick for Turksan, either a 1st rounder or two second round picks for Drew, and Dickerson in that draft. Without Dickerson, we would have never gotten Francis, imo. The jury is still out on that draft, because of the picks, but I think there is more positive than negative. KT spent the off season with a personal trainer, and imo, he got bigger and faster. KT made Dirk N. look bad. KT will never be able to defend the great PFs of the West straight up, but he is great in a team defense strategy. ------------------ http://home.swbell.net/rkb3/hr.html = Live Rockets Chat
Even I, the original KT basher, may have to lay off KT for awhile. KT's defense was much improved compared to last year. This is a completely different KT than the one at the summer games. He is a lot quicker, stronger, and getting better positioning on defense and really hitting the boards. Baker was still more or less owning him, but the height gap was the difference, and unlike last year, he wasn't just completely getting destroyed. I'm looking forward to the season, with our 2nd unit. The way Cato, KT, Moochie, and Mobley have been playing, along with Langhi, who just has some mental kinks he's going through, and Rogers who looked VERY good against Seattle, and everyone's favorite rookie Collier, this should be a very fun season. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
And it's one hell of an energetic bandwagon, Finn! There is plenty of room, come aboard! I am sooo glad Los' is healthy and looking forward to seeing him get some quality time on the court at the 3 with the bigger lineups and possibly the 4 when teams go small against us. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Finally everyone is coming around to the amazing talent of Kenny. Go KT!!!! ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS [This message has been edited by DEANBCURTIS (edited October 18, 2000).]
oh my gosh, how can you say that about rashard lewis? He is much better than you guys are making him out to be. 8 ppg in 20 minutes is excellent for a 19 year old who played behind both ruben patterson, lazaro borrell, vin baker, brent barry, and mad max. He plays 3 positions and still didnt get much playing time. Out of that whole draft class i would take rashard(just a little over dickerson and mobley.
You would take Lewis ahead of Dickerson and Mobley? Why? Out of those three, I would take Dickerson, Mobley, and then Lewis LAST. ------------------ http://home.swbell.net/rkb3/hr.html = Live Rockets Chat
I would like to see Los' play more of the 4 spot against Garnett and Duncan etc. If he gets enough PT I think he could make some good defensive stops. ------------------ Miggidy Markell says: 1.
