I seem to get blasted every time I put up a post criticizing the rockets. The things I have been arguing time and time again prove to have some merit in this game. One, the rockets moved the ball so much better because only one of the two guards played majority of the game (with Francis not playing much). Second, they would be SO MUCH better with a pure shooter playing the inside/outside game with Yao. Francis is a complete idiot for saying that anyone who thinks that Yao should the get the ball more is either a 3 point shooter or a player who does not get much PT. Well it was obvious that he was talking about Rice. My point is not about Rice, it's about the importance of having a pure shooter playing the inside out game with Yao. The two guards that the rockets have don't play that style, they play street ball. They will be fine with one, but two is not gonna work in the long run.

did you even read the other thread. he was talking about tim legler who often criticizes the rox on nba2night for not getting yao the ball. a 3 pt shooter who didn't get much playing time is what he said. that applies to timmy perfectly. rice used to get pt so it's not him and steve wouldn't say that about a teammate.

even if he was not talking about Rice or another player on the team, his thinking and approach towards the game is COMPLETELY WRONG. Show him tapes of the old rocket teams and even the success of the current spurs team. Team's don't win any where with guards, you have to have an inside/out post up game. It's the mentality of our guards, not talent. COMPLETELY made for the streets, not for the NBA.

Rocket113, i completely agree with you.

Yao IS that GOOD IMHO, and could develop to dominate ala Duncan in the future.

But, right now, Franchise attitude is detrimental to Yao development.

More and more, i could see Francis as the cancer ( well this word might be too harsh ) in your team rather than Cat.

In the eve of yao domination, he better take these actions :

    1. Grow up ! Accept that your team is a bigman oriented team now, and the offense is inside out, not otherwise

    2. Learn better to play PG, cut all the showboating. Just shut up and put it up !

    3. If he won't or feel incapable to learn becoming an effective PG, better ask straight forward to play as SG. Though undersized, offensively he has the talents IMO

Else ! And the Rox should explore the life after Francis IMHO:cool:

I still hope that Francis can grow up and Mobley can adjust to become more of a catch and shooter.

Yao is a helluva player, but we need Steve too. As for Cat, even though many of you don't like him I think that he is a great shooter, and agree when you say that he should be more of a catch and shoot guy. If the players could be more decisive in their roles I am sure that this team would be in contention already, but what do you expect they are young.

Yeah, I'm not sure it was a coincidence that the Rockets got 18 assists. When Moochie is on the floor, he is looking to pass the ball.

You, rocket113 along with that LiTtLeY guy are the most irritating posters I have ever come across on this BBS. Put alittle more thought into your posts before you make them. No one likes people who try to brain wash stuff into their head that they don't want there, not to mention saying "i told you so" afterward.

    I agree...

I've been saying the same thing and last night was a perfect example of how a shooter helps the whole team...

The Rox are so used to not having a big man that I really think they forget to get Yao the ball...

With Rice back, that's not going to happen as EG said last night a/f the game...

The Rockets have been doing a pretty good job the last few games of getting Yao the ball, especially on the road against good teams like Phoenix, Utah, and the Lakers. Two of those were wins, the other one should have been a win if not for a BS call, so all of this garbage of "exploring life after Francis", and not pounding the ball inside is ridiculous. I got on them for not doing it, but now they're doing it. And how amusing is it that Spurs fans are running to our board ripping Francis. Don't they have a game against Dallas tonight?

Do you think its a coincidence that Francis also had 6 assists. How about that Moochie played many of those minutes with Francis.

I think Steve would grow once you bandwaggoner, Yao only fans, would stop complaining about stuff that isn't there, like Steve being a cancer.

So you think fans' opinions are holding Steve back?

yao is very good but the guy cant stay on the court for more than 12 mins at a time before he gets tired, plus he cant back anyone down YET!!! (lack of muscle) when he beefs up he will get the ball every time but untill then i dont think so.

i hope yao can become a more skilled shaq with his back to the basket and just bully his way down there, he has a chance to be a mix of shaq with a mix of kareem, but if i had to choose it would be a shaq style of play.

As far as I can remember, Isiah + Joe made a pretty nice guard tandem about 13-14 years ago. Hmmm...didn't they lead the Pistons to a couple of Ships?

There are guard-oriented teams that have proven they can win. The Rockets are not one of them, infortunately.
