    Jeremy + Asik <-> D.Howard :)

Howard does not want to play with Kobe and Lakers need young players. D'Antoni likes Lin and Nash could be the mentor of Lin. Lakers would get a good defensive center.

Houston would get Howard and be a contender.

I feel we just need an upgrade at the PF and backup C. We have PPat, Morris, DMo, Jones, and White all meant for the PF spot. Morey has to atleast try to shop one of them this coming trade deadline, even though he says he is satisfied with this team.

but the upgrade can't inhibit your ability to land another elite player

Yeah, you're crazy and overvaluing Asik by a lot.

I mean sure, Asik is a great defensive C, but Bosh is a 2 way threat at the PF/C position who has featured as a championship piece.

Harden/ Bosh = excellent foundation to build around.

Yea ur probably right...but i still rather just sign a powerforward outright in the off season than trade for bosh in season...

A move towards the 2014 FA crop for Houston.

Honestly, it looks to me as if the only FA's worth maxxing this summer are Dwight or Paul, and I'd be surprised if either one of them left their current team.

Why for Indiana? Something of a no-brainer on their part, they clear $17.5m in salary from the books and end up almost $25m under the cap while retaining their current squad.
They upgrade for the playoffs by bringing Delfino into the G mix, someone who is a clear upgrade over the current backups (Johnson and Green[traded away]). The only rotation player who is coming off contract is David West, and they gain some 'insurance' by having Patterson for 1 season if desperate.
Did I mention it gains them almost $25m in capspace to upgrade their roster this off-season?

Why for Houston? Low risk, high reward. Since the summer of 2013 doesn't look outstanding, we simply 'flip' low grade assets or expirings into expiring contracts for 2014. The worst case scenario is that we lose Patterson and Delfino from the rotation with no replacement at all, but surely even the biggest critic of Granger would concede that he's an upgrade over the both of them rolled together.
More likely scenario is that we just brought in a very good shooter at the 3 position who has excellent size and can play the 4 spot in 'smallball' lineups.

I imagine we'd be able to convince the Pacers to throw in a first round pick in this scenario?

No it doesn't solve the Rockets PF issues, but it does open up some playing time for Jones and Motiejunas down the stretch, and gives us the chance to see if either of them are 'the answer'.

I don't think Asik will be a Rocket long term. His defense and rebounding are elite, but he really hurts the Rockets screen and roll and hinders the type of offense the Rockets want to run.

My best guess is the Rockets get their second star via trade with Asik being a big piece going the other way.

Whoops - the above post should have included the trade

Pacers receive: Delfino, Patterson, Aldrich, Douglas

    Rockets receive: Granger, Green

    your crazy by overvaluing Bosh

    Asik 19 double doubles

    Bosh 11

    Asik $5,000,000

    Bosh $17,000,000+

I think the only way they trade Asik is if they have another player that can rebound and play defense. I think the Rockets are pleased with Asik and I think he still has room to improve. Good Centers are hard to come by. Asik is not great, but he is good.

    Correct.

Because it's for one season only, and he's on a 'mini-max' (ie, JUST $14m next year).
There's nothing else better to do with our cap room (assuming we don't get Chris Paul, and we won't), so why not trial Granger?
Worst case is that he doesn't work out, and we can play with expirings next season.

Well worth giving him a trial, especially if it nets us a first round pick.

Bosh = legit low post threat + championship winner. Inside/outside offensive game. Can play the 4 or the 5.

    Asik = umm, fumble?

    There's a reason Bosh is $17m anad Asik $8.3m

why are we even considering heat players? what makes you guys think they're willing to part, especially with teams that are rebuilding? They're all cocky players and im sure would only go to teams that they would feel they would walk over most other teams.

    now hear me out....

This trade will get rid of a big dollar amount for Boston, and will get us a legit(i know he is old) 4 to go along with our great starting lineup. this would then give more time to smith, dmo, tjones, and royce white(if he ever plays). he has a big 3 year deal, but it could be a huge trade chip(last year of his deal) when James is a free agent... any takers?

    In: Kevin Garnett
    Out:Delfino, Aldrich, Patterson, Morris

Might have to throw in a 2nd rounder, but that should be MORE than enough to get him out of boston and back with mcfail...

We are not in win now mode. This is a win now move. Garnett may have 2 more years on him, but those two years are in steady decline. Now 5 - 7 years ago, no brainer.

What the Rockets are creating with their glut of "PF's" is actually a new brand of basketball. They see P.G. & P.F. skills in Royce. They see SF & PF skills in Morris and Jones. They see PF & C skills in Patterson & Motiejunas. This gives them 5 young players with tremendous upside able to fill multiple positions on the team while making them one of the biggest teams in the league! Just imagine for the sake of argument, Royce White pulls his dumb head out of his butt, realizes he actually is in the best place in his life he could possibly be and decides to play (won't happen but here is some of what the Rockets were thinking when drafting him). He could essentially perform some PG duties (not calling him Magic) but you could drop a menacingly tall team on the court with:

    P.G. - Royce White (6-8)
    S.G. - James Harden (6-5)
S.F. - Chandler Parsons (6-10) or Marcus Morris (6-9) or Terrence Jones (6-9)
    P.F. - Donatas Motiejunas (7-0) . . . .
    ..C. - Omer Asik (7-0)

The problem with the Rockets is that they have been undersized too long. Morey is working to solve that problem by creating a big man training mill so to speak. In addition, stockpiling bigs who are recognized to have value allows Morey to make deals that he wouldn't otherwise since quality bigs have more value than guards. Though Royce White has killed his trade value, Morey is going to ride the wave like a stock and wait until his value comes back up then dump him. He is not going to throw away a potential asset just because its value has diminished in the short run. He's a smart guy.

I actually would not mind having Garnett for a couple years until we develop our young 4s but He has a no trade clause and I doubt he would want to play in Houston.
