We talking energy drinks or energy shots? I love me some 5 hours energy extra strength grape in the morning. Caffeine buzz FTW. Energy drinks are sorta gross I agree
I know they're bad for me, but I down my daily vitamins w/ a Monster Zero every AM mon-fri. One hell of a energy rush in the AM. I'll stop one of these days.

I dont know whether to laugh or shake my head at this I have a co-worker that drinks at least 2 monsters per day -- its ridiculous - he is always talking super fast and running all over the place -- great guy but I hate to see what he is like without the drinks. I told him several times that the stuff isnt good for him long run but its his body of course. personally I'll have maybe 4-5 cans of redbull spread throughout the year and most of that comes in forms of jaeger bombs.
That's right and they don't eat healthy so they don't have much natural energy to begin with. I start my day off with coconut oil and grass fed butter in some hot tea or organic coffee blended and I'm good for the day. The healthy fats are what give you sustained energy. Energy drinks are just laboratory made chemicals for lazy people who want to get a jolt and then crash later. Stupidity. If you guys are really interested in having real, healthy energy (which I'm sure 99% of you are not) then do the bulletproof coffee and thank me later: http://www.bulletproofexec.com/coffee/
I take energy shots or drink espresso pretty frequently. I rotate them when my system gets used to one.
A solid meal plus washing everything down with water will do wonders. In a hurry, two bananas (especially organic) will give you a shocking boost. On even shorter time, some V-8 fusion and water to wash it down is incredible.
Although I registered in 2008, it's not as if I've been actively posting much until recently. Plus I wanted to start a fresh conversation.
Rep'd, couldn't agree more. People aren't necessarily lazy though, they either have forgotten or don't know how to get natural energy or have too little time to do so. I'm pretty close to the latter category though I can be lazy with my nutrition at times (granted, my eating habits are EXTREMELY expensive and time consuming to implement).
We don't use them on fires. Carbs, sugars, caffeine have diuretic effects, which is not good in an environment that naturally leads to dehydration. Energy drinks have also been linked to cardiac stress, heat stroke, and rhabdomyolysis (muscle tissue damage leading to kidney failure). 2/3 water to 1/3 Gatorade/Powerade is recommended. I suppose they may be OK if you're just sitting around, but don't take them if you're going to be doing arduous physical work over an extended timeframe.
I say don't take them at all and just take your chances with low energy. It'll be better for you in the long run.
