I can almost predict win and losses based on his box score. If he hits 4 or more 3's we almost always. For some reason if he struggles with his shot so do Morris and Lin.

There was a stretch there where I thought he had a shot at 6 man of the year but Jamal Crawford is pretty much running away with it.

Novak has surprisingly underrated D. But Novak is also far more expensive and doesn't playmake. Delfino can.

    On Novak's D

Tl:dr - Steve Novak has surprisingly good defense because people think he's bad, and tend to make dumb plays against him - when in reality, he's a long 6'10 and generally in position.

We just gotta make people think Delfino is bad and we can make him a better defender

Novaks D is actually decent, people were commenting on it earlier in the Knicks season. That being said Delfino is better in my eyes because sometimes it looks awkward watching him move the ball, but a lot of times he shows he can make plays and make the right passes if his shot isn't defended.

lol not sure if being serious. or just talking about 3 point shooting.

Novak is garbage. If he plays against a zone he's immediately rendered useless. Can't put it on the floor. Can't drive to the rim. His defense is suspect too.

The name of this thread is suspect, too. OP talking about a bromance with Carlos? I keed, I keed.

I'm a fan of Delfino's, and I think he is well worth his contract. What I've always wondered is whether there is some advanced stat that Morey keys on that made him want to pick up Delfino.

For example, I could imagine that Delfino does very well with uncontested 3's. The comparison with Novak is apt, because Novak is also very good with uncontested 3's, but is not so good with contested 3's. Part of what made Linsanity was that Lin's pentration led to uncontested Novak 3's. After signing Lin perhaps Morey was looking for a Novak type player to add?

Getting more uncontested 3's may explain Delfino's career year he is having in 3pt%. Delfino normally has a quick release, but I've seen plenty of times lately where Delfino is spotted up on the 3pt line and he has so much time that he goes through a very slow release. It's almost like meditation watching it. He visibly collects himself, sights the rim, gets into a slow measured shooting motion, then fires - the whole sequence looking like some kind of trance. I don't recall seeing him miss when he has this much time to shoot.

Delfino has become one of my family's favorite players. Dude has ice in his veins and is a solid all-around player. If he can raise his game a bit more, we should promote him for 6th man of the year.
