The one thing I love about Houston compared to the rest of the cities in Texas is food. The food selection, whether it's the # of fast food locations, or ethnic cuisines is just outstanding. Houston being so diverse, you can practically find really good authentic food. I always miss the food.

The food, the parks, all the stuff to do (museums, concerts, festivals, etc), plus we're the only Texas city with three major sports franchises.

Everywhere in Texas is beautiful, and our people are second to no one. Plus our forum is the best by far no comparison!

More likely, those people have higher standards for life and view you as simple minded (I disagree but I'm a very open minded, fair person). To you, Boise Idaho might seem boring but a guy that's always lived there thinks WOW, that frog really jumped faster than usual today..and he has a wonderful landscape to look over.

Likewise, a person in NYC or LA or Miami or Chicago or San Diego etc. would think that about Houston (from people I've spoken with), and a natural hierarchy is created. Brighter men tend to be in areas where the COL (cost of living) is higher... which attracts prettier girls and a genetical trail is left. Those trailblazers lay the trail and the sheep chase it. So Houston is perceived as a city of chasers, not trail layers.

Only the Mavs are in Dallas. They bandwagon the Arlington Cowboys and Arlington Rangers. :p

#1 for me is an INDOOR baseball stadium. Can you imagine what attendance would be w/o it?

Houston isn't for everybody and thank god!
It's not pretty or flashy. It doesn't have the history and allure of a Chicago or
    Los Angeles.

Houston is the black sheep of big American cities. The family member you try to ignore or make fun of. But no matter what you throw at it, it just keeps going. And it keeps getting bigger and bigger. I know a few people from Dallas and El Paso who have come here and said that there is no way they're moving back. There is just much more opportunity here than back home.

The one thing I love about Houston is the pace of life. It's not hectic, fast paced or so overwhelming that you want to leave or give up.

The thing I've really come to appreciate is our incredible cultural diversity which helps in our amazing food scene.

Houston and Chicago were founded around the same time.

True, but Chicago had a much faster growth spurt than Houston. Galveston was much bigger and more prosperous than Houston circa 1900. It was only after the Hurricane of 1900 that Houston began to grow into the biggest city in Texas (actually some can say the growth didn't start until the 50's/60's).

By the time of the Hurricane, Chicago was well entrenched as being the biggest city west of New York.

Houston was almost the size of Galveston and was growing at a far faster rate than Galveston in 1900. Storm or not, Houston was going to surpass Galveston by the next census.

some of you guys are listing what Houston has to offer not what you believe gives Houston the advantage over another city.
