Traffic is pretty bad into and out of Chicago... it is on par with NYC and LA..

The weather in Chicago is BAD if you dont like it cold... Michigan and Wisconsin do not have major cities.

The cost of living in Chicago is pretty bad, and the taxes are terrible, the worst in the nation.

Can you find places with worse traffic? Maybe
worse weather? Cannot think of a major city worse
    cost of living? Tax-wise? No.

I have lived in Miami (bleh) and NYC (nice if you are single and know what you are getting into).

Yes. But one side is in terrible shape, while the other side isn't. The segregation is with the middle class and the lower class. You're not going to find many people in the lower class up in the city or the north side. The south side (which also has it's good parts) is generally regarded as the lower class.

I'd have to disagree. You have a point for the Taxes. It's not very good when it comes to that. Traffic is horrible, but I think that exists in most large cities. The murder rate is primarily high in the suburbs, the south and west sides... and even then, people still can't seem to put near the top on Chicago on the most dangerous cities lists. I'll give you the weather, but that's also exaggerated. While the winters can be bad, we have 4 seasons. You can't find that in a lot regions. I was born and raised in Houston, and I HATE humidity and heat compared to cold and chill. Weather is probably one of the main reasons for people not to move here, but some people make it seem like you're going to be living in the arctic, when that's just not the case.

Aside from tourist areas, it's still an all-around beautiful city. Does it have its bad/rough-looking parts? Yes. But overall, i'd say it's really nice. It doesn't have natural beauty like San Francisco but more of an architectural beauty.

This is probably the best bang for your buck city aside from the Texas cities compared to about any other ones in the U.S. It's almost crazy to see how much lower the cost of living is here compared to NY, SF, LA, Seattle, and Boston and even DC. It mirrors Philadelphia in COL.

lol, it's not on par with NYC, that I know from experience. I definitely know it's not on par with LA due to statistical data. Chicago has bad traffic, it's the third largest city, it's going to.

Again, if the COL is so bad here, I wonder what you would think about other cities then... because Chicago is probably among the best you're going to find for COL for a big city.

It would if there were more law-abiding citizens able to carry. The problem would eventually begin to decrease.

The problem doesn't lie with law-abiding citizens though (but for the people that do get killed that are in the wrong place at the wrong time, I'd agree that allowing guns would potentially save some lives). Most of these murders are gang related, meaning they happen in gang areas against other people who have guns too. Chicago and LA have always been notorious for their thugs, south central LA is pretty much what the south side of Chicago is but with less violence.

Chicago has a terrible gang problem, arguably the worst in the country. The issue extends to the suburbs as well.... the Narco issue the authorities are trying to keep on the down low, but it is a major growing problem.

I am glad you like Chicago, to each their own..... not worth a spit to me.
