They're expecting the WHOLE NBA team - very cool! Sadly, they're still $51,000 away from their fund-raising goal.
Honestly I can't believe they need a fund-raising to get someone willing to distribute their movie... I would say people would be fighting to get the rights on it.
This is what they said: What do these funds go towards? This is an independent film that has not been financially backed by any major Hollywood movie studio. The small amount of money we raised at the start of this project has long been spent on basic expenses such as travel for filming. Now we are faced with increasing expenses to finish the film including sound editing, graphics, color-correction, and general licensing for such things as footage, music, photos, etc.
i wouldn't call it racism. It's more like this, where the old high school dropout gets upset that my little homie, an 12 year old schooled him.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_2DHUlLR1Kg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Back in the early 2000s, cats like Starburry would get offended when Manu would roll right past them. But it wasn't because they were racist. They just never expected a south american with long hair to do the things he did.
They also did a fundraising to Everyman's Journey, the story of Journey's replacement singer, Arnel Pineda and now the documentary will be in theaters in March. https://www.facebook.com/JourneyMOVIE I think it's a common practice for small filmmaker to ask for support. I don't think we should worry about the funding because Lin is very popular and the documentary is the talk of the town. I have no doubt that Leong's dream will come true.
Just donated $15 to the film! I don't think they'll need my money though with all the buzz they've been getting at Sundance.
Great! Wouldn't it be cool to have 5,000 people donate $10* each? If everyone thinks the film makers don't need their money and not do anything, the goal will never be reached. *only because multiples of 10 is easier to count.
You can see all the backers on the Kickstarter page http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/linsanitymovie/linsanity-the-movie/backers
Please donate If you're truly a fan of Jeremy Lin, please donate to support the Linsanity movie at Sundance. The makers of this movie are still raising funds to finish the movie, if they can't reach their goal the movie won't make it. The reason they need to raise money is because a lot of footage requires paying image and video rights (like for NBA image rights or licensing). Please donate here. I hate to call it out like that but don't pretend you're a fan of this kid if you don't donate. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/linsanitymovie/linsanity-the-movie/backers And to the haters out there - it's inexplicable how someone can hate this kid. It's like hating movies like Rocky, Rudy, The Natural, Hoosiers, all in one. This kis is nothing but humble, generous, gracious, and has fought through a lot of prejudice and racism at every level in order to make his way into the league. He's also smart, hardworking, and a clean kid which is refreshing given the rest of the league.
Yeah, Deron is gonna buy the rights for a couple of million bucks, never show it to the public, and shelves it forever!!!
