The ball boy was a board of directors son on the other team. Lays on the ball, Hazard kicks the ball/him. Thoughts? I don't blame him, kid deserved it for delaying the game like a little b****. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sd38KUjmOho" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
WHen I first heard about this, I thought the ball boy was a little kid, but this is ridiculous. I'm glad he got kicked.
I feel this is deserving of its own thread. This is not the GARM and it could use a few more good threads. I still can't believe that stupid guy tweeted that. He said he was a good time waster. Although I wouldn't have kicked him, he should definitely be fired. Or Swansea should have repercussions.
Does anyone really object to a petulant red-headed rich kid getting his just dessert for behaving in a way that compromises the integrity of the game?
Hazard claims he was just kicking the ball and didn't make contact with the ballboy. From this angle you can see that he did kick the ball out from under him. That doesn't mean that he didn't kick the ballboy as well, but if he did it wasn't that hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K-cAfGNT6o&feature=youtu.be
Very true, but I still cant blame him. I heard on ESPN that the kid tweeted he was going to stall on the game or something. Hopefully the kid is never allowed on the field again.
In my mind, everyone is in the wrong here. The ballboy shouldn't have made a point to lay on the ball and kill time. I understand Hazard's frustration in this situation, but you shouldn't kick at the ball with the ball underneath him. That's not smart. In theory, it shouldn't matter if a ballboy decides to do this because the time he spends laying on the ball should be added on at the end of 90 minutes or at the end of the first stint of added time. Officials across all leagues do a terrible job of this.
I'm all for supporting your team, but if you need to actively help them to win then you 1- don't think much of your team's ability to win 2- probably embarrassed the team you love on some level
Some of the English dudes on BSPN were saying that when they were ball ball boys, they were told that if their team is winning, take as long as possible in returning the ball. On the other hand if their team is losing, the get ball to their players on the ASAP. I don't know why the media made it seem like Hazard purposely kicked a 9 year old child's stomach. The kid is 17... most can call him a dude at this point... plus it was clear that he faked "injury". Don't know why no media is criticizing the chump.
- Kid tweets before the game that he will try to impact the game in some way to help his team. - Kid is 17 years old. This isn't a 11 or 12 year old ball boy, he is 17 and far from innocent. - Kid's job is to give the ball back to the players, and nothing else. - Kid lays on the ball to delay the game. - Eden tries to get ball from ball boy by kicking the ball (as you can see from other angle) from under him. Kid is a douche, I might be biased because I have Belgian ties, but Eden has probably never received a red card and only a couple of yellow ones in his career. Straight-A player on the field. Kid should never be able to get in a stadium again. Reminds me of this: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/B0YoXt-mnug" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Here's another thing...why do we even need ballboys anymore at this point? We have kids (or teens) playing a big role in these huge games and then we act surprised when they act like kids. Why don't they use young officials in training for this? Not only would they likely be more objective, but they would also be close to the playing field so they could see the game up close and talk with the officials about particular calls at the half and after the game.
Any news on Hazard appealing the red? I hope he goes for an appeal. Don't think the FA will accept, given that they just fined Hazard a few days ago. However it will show how stupid the system is. FA too scared to make the right call with the whole political correctness.
