Why aren't all-star tickets on sale?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think only the Rising Stars Challenge, Jam Sessions and probably the celebrity game are the only events with tickets on sale to the general public. I believe season ticket holders get access to all star game tickets, which is fine but why not the general public?

I mean, cheapest ticket on second hand sites like stubhub are like $700. Seriously? Every seat will be sold out, a minimum of $700 for one ticket, without a general sale to the public? I call BULLSHEIT. Seems like TC rather sell them to ticket brokers than actual fans.

    Anyone have any more information?

The NBA controls all the tickets. The NBA gives the Rockets an allotment of tickets, they sell those to their ticket holders. Everything else is through the NBA...players, sponsors, etc...

at least that's what my rep told me..

ASG is for the good ole boys club, not the plebs. The plebs can watch on television. That was why Cuban got pissed off and said he wouldn't host the ASG again, because it doesn't serve the customer.

    this....

I bumped a AllStar ticket thread last month when they offered me the package for the Rising Star, Allstar Saturday/Sunday package for a grand total of....

$2,500 for 2 tickets to each event

I gladly passed and just bought the Rising Stars ticket package that included 4 Rockets games. Jam Session tickets are already on sale to the public, Rising Star tickets should be on sale any day now since Season Ticket holders had presale access to them last week that ended this past Monday. Celebrity game tickets should be any day now also since the website said it should've been on sale this month.

Oh ok. Being that the NBa controls it all makes a bit more sense.

Hey I was looking at tickets for the rising stars game and saw that upper sideline seats were located in the 200s section. I believe those are suite level? So do you know if we get suite access? That would be nice.

The rockets offered them as a "package deal" to all 3 events for season ticket holders i believe for $2,250 each (lower level no guarantee on exact location).

Pretty big rip off, so I am sure the resale market will be high for most events.

I bought 4 of these... Charged the price of Upper Sidelines, but the tickets say 200-level (typically suite level).

Anyone know if they are changing uppers to 200s for the ASG or if it was a system glitch?

Yeah. It doesn't make sense for it to be in the 200s. That's suite level. Just for fun, I wanted to see what they had. They had something in the 200s row 9. Row 9... They only have four rows in a suite. I really think its some type of error.

I'd much rather go to the Rookie sophomore challenge than the actual all star game taking cost into consideration.

The NBA changed the "sections" for the ASG. 200 Level for AS Weekend = 400 level normally.

I guess it was to avoid any confusion for out of towners.

so.... they are going to change the section signs all over on the upper deck? All they need to do is look at the ticket, then look up at signs???

That's dumb of the NBA, do they really thing people are that stupid???

IMO, they just made it worse....

It was actually $2,500. $250 was charged earlier in the season as a deposit. Also, it was Upper Level with Lower Level being $1,000 more per package.

I recieved an email from the NBA a few months ago with a link to purchase tickets. Not sure if it was from my NBA account(via league pass), or from my information they had of my past NBA tickets I had purchased. Either way, it seems like they filter the ticket offerings to NBA fans who they deem as first come, first serve.

Yes, the lowest price I saw was between $2,500 and $3,000. That was for the actual game.

-The Saturday event are going to be higher in cost IF you somehow get filtered as worthy of getting a ticket offered to you as either a long time season ticket holder, family member of a player, celebrity, etc. This is the most high demand event of the weekend, and almost always nearly impossible to get tickets for.

You have to be on some sort of "list" that the NBA has to get offered a ticket. On a second hand site like stub hub, Im sure the prices are all accross the board because most people that get these tickets probably dont pay for them. Most of the tickets that are offered on stub hub, are WHATEVER the ticket holder wants to offer for them.

I would be INCREDIBLY sceptical about buying a scalped ticket in order to avoid a fake scam.

-The Rookie/Sophmore game on Friday night should be fairly reasonable, but not sure its really worth the money to fork over IMO. I went a few years ago in Dallas and it cost around $50 a ticket for the upper bowl.

-The NBA Jam session is just a convention style event sort of similar to going to a gun show, but for basketball. There will be thousands of people there, and you will NOT meet any players. They have an autograph booth with one rotating NBA player giving autographs at a time with a line pretty much going around the building. Its a decent time, but don't expect much. Tickets I believe are probably around 20 bucks.

Celeb game and All Star practice - both at the convention center during Jam Session, both sold out, i got tix to the practice before it sold out, costs about $60 including fees, also includes admission to saturday jam session which would normally cost $30 by itself. Went to the practice 3 years ago in Dallas - have to stand the whole time and it's bleacher seating but overall it's pretty good and the only chance to see both teams close up in a small-ish venue

Rising Star Challenge - only event at Toyota Center sold through their website. Was supposed to only cost $35 for upper level, $50 for lower, but the NBA saw that the packages the rockets offered sold so well (that included other rockets games) that they hiked up the prices - now the lowest ticket for upper level is $70, lower level is $90. Anyone who bought a package gets the worst possible upper level seat, even if they got lower level tix to the Rockets games.

The saturday and sunday night events have never been on sale to the public through the venue (at least not in the internet age for sure), the only exception being Dallas in 2010 because it was at Cowboys Stadium with over 100,000 seats (plus standing room) as opposed to basketball stadiums that have 20,000 or less seats. This is one of the first years that i've gotten an email about ticket packages for those events from some Quint Events group that is apparently official through the NBA. Still too high for me though. Used to be you couldn't get a ticket to saturday or sunday unless you know someone. Being a season ticket holder doesn't give you much of an advantage over someone just buying the package through Quint Events, which is a damn shame because the Rockets ticket office always tries to hype up having season tickets for years that we host all star as if it gives you some advantage in price.
