I think Hakeem was/is a far more superior Center than Shaq...so as far as ther finesse Vs. strength theory...he is wrong.

I dont really care about numbers...Shaq (especially in the beginning) had no skills. HE IS BIG...thats it. Catch ball, turn, put in basket. Thats all he did, thats all he knew how to do. Just look at his free throw technique....no skills. If anyone had his size and strength they could be a center in the NBA. So bottom line numbers dont mean s%$& when it comes to talking about a players game and/or skills

I don't know how to judge O'neal, but I personally don't think Yao will become as dominating as Shaq or Hakeem. He won't demand shots, and I doubt he'll ever be top 10-15 in the league in scoring.

He'll be a franchise player, but in a different way. Not in the "tear everyone out of the way" way.

    I disagree with this article.

Guokas is discounting the value of the well-rounded player.

Just because you are balanced, doesn't mean you are NOT bad-ass a balanced player. Balanced doesn't mean, average, or mediocre. Let's say that Yao averages 21ppg, 14rpg, 4apg, and 3 bpg. That in my mind is "dominating" but just not on the scoring end.

"Dominating" doesn't have to mean scoring alone.

Shaq, when double teamed dunks on them!
Yao, when doubled teamted finds the open man cutting to basket for a lay-up.

    Both are worth 2 points.

Not exactly a "brief" stint - Goukas is the Cavs color commentator and has been for at least the past two seasons.
