If by some freak of nature Mobley was traded would the chemistry of the team be shattered. How do you think Steve would be affected....I know they are not married or anything but they are friends and enjoy playing together.....Would it cause more problems than benefits. Yes or No and explain
Everything points to Steve and Cat not being as close anymore, so I don't see how it would be any trouble. Considering our team isn't adjusting or adopting a cohesive playing style, and our role players aren't fitting in with the stars, I don't see how much worse it could get.
We would have to have some chemistry for it to be shattered. Right now the sum < individual parts, over the last few weeks we are just one of the 13 or so most talented teams in the league who occasionally plays together really well, but most of the time plays at the level of some of the worst teams in the league. In sum, we trade if it is going to get us a better player or an equal player with a better fit--right now it is kind of hard to imagine getting a player better than what we give up who would be more of an odd fit than we already have.
it's becoming very clear that Cuttino doesn't belong in our starting five anymore. He either needs to get traded or come off the bench and take his 6th man of the year award with a grain of salt.
What would be beautiful is to see a Mobley for Michael Redd trade. If Rudy was somehow able to pull that one out, I would cry. Really.
What would truly be beautiful is to see Cat score 35pts, hit the game winner, then hug Francis all the way off the court.
Francis would no longer be presured to pass to someone because they are friends. He can start thinkinig "team" not "homey."
I definitely agree with everyone that the chemistry has been lacking, and I also agree that Cat should not be starting. I think with him coming off the bench we would have that extra spark that we have been missing....he would play much better coming off the bench
I think the bigger question is, how much is Les willing to add to the payroll in the long run? Its been documented on this bbs that the Heat would be interested in Glen Rice b/c of the cap relief he would bring them after next season. Deals would work with a package of Cuttino and Rice for one of the Heat players (Grant or Jones) plus a veteran PG in Best. This summer, it would not affect the Rockets payroll any, but in the long run (ie summer 2004 and on) it would add about 7 mil per yr to the payroll. During the final 2 yrs of Cato's contract, it could get really dicey as the payroll could approach upwards of 60 mil depending on how things are managed. Question is, would Les be willing to take the risk? A pair of savvy veterans like Jones and Best or Grant and Best could be the difference between making the playoffs or not. This team as is surely isnt. Will a 4th straight lotto season affect season ticket sales and what not for the new arena? Something to consider.
It'd take time for everything to come together. Time: meaning 2-3 weeks. The offense will seem slow for the first week but after that, we would be getting the job done. THis is saying if we get someone good for Mobley. Ala Brand.
