I'm 6'2" and half Chinese. Height isn't just for Yao anymore. My wife is 5'8" and has 7-footers in her family. Our kids will be tall, thin, and gorgeous.
I'm 5'-7" and shrinking. I was probably more insecure about my height when I was a teenager, I was 5'-6" at 13 and one of the taller kids to being one of the shorter kid's when I was 17, but since then haven't really cared that much.
I had a big height insecurity in middle school. I was already short and then came back from summer after seventh grade to find all my friends hit their growth spurt that summer. All of them grew 2-3 inches while I was in 8th grade and still under 5 ft tall. Fortunately I started growing a bit during the year and finally hit my growth spurt in summer after 9th. Ended up being 5'10". Average for US but am a giant at family parties where the women are 5'1-2" and guys are 5'6".
Full-blooded Mexican at 5'9", went through a growth spurt playing basketball for my high school as I arrived to the 'States at 12 and around 5'2" or 5'2"... I don't remember. You don't need height to be a gentleman. Taller people die faster and have a higher cancer risk, man.
I fall somewhere between short and average. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I have zero concept of it affecting me socially.
Not significantly, no. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy) At least I am not bragging about being a "better race."
Too many people, including Asians, believe in the lies perpetuated by the media. Asians are not short, it's the diet and environment.
5'10'' and super pissed at the moms cause she smoked when I was in the oven! My daughter is already 5'3'' at 12, she's gonna be a tall one!
