It would have to be slightly more complicated because there's no way we take on Marshall while both MoT and Griffin are still here, and there's no way we trade Cat without getting a PG or another SG in return.

But Chandler seems to be playing very well recently, and the Bulls may very well be open to trading Marshall.

I wish we could get Jamaal Crawford as our backup PG/SG. So many people are being wasted in that triangle they're running in Chicago. It's just not for younger players. No one knows the true vale of Jay Williams, Jamaal Crawford, Marcus Fizer, Eddy Curry, Trenton Hassell, or Eddie Robinson. Cartwright's a great coach, but he needs to lose the triangle.

    Lets see...

We trade an up and coming SG for an over-the-hill tweener.

Why didn't we just keep KT?

    Why?

IMO, Francis is a larger defensive liability at the 2 than the 1 since most NBA SG's are taller than PG's.

What this team needs is a point forward.

Mobley is not up and coming. Mobley is turning 28 this year. Donyell Marshall is not over the hill, he's turning 30 this year, and is having his best year. I think he's averaging a double/double too.

    Hey!! Marshall's my age you @#$%@&! :D ;)

No really, Marshall is just 2 yrs older than Cat, they're both in their primes. Age shouldn't be a factor.

And eventhough Marshall could be a great fit, 1) the Rocks can get a better player for Cat, and 2) Griffin will be a better version of Marshall in another season or 2.

Now if you're talking about a Cato for Marshall trade, maybe, but then again Curry will be better than Cato in a season or 2 as well.

You guys wouldn't trade Mobley for Donyell Marshall? I'd do that trade no question. Mobley is a good player, but there are so many guards with a similiar game to Mobley's. While Marshall is not a superstar, he can rebound, block shots, and score. He's a very versatile player that when given PT puts up great numbers.
In 30 minutes a game he gives...

    15 PPG, 10 RPG, 1BPG and shoots 48%

There's not that many guys that put up those kind of numbers. Those numbers are particularly impressive considering the guy comes off the bench and is not the 1st option and maybe not even the 2nd or 3rd.

Point Forward??? I've heard this mentioned a few times, but how many guys in the league can play this role well. Maybe my mind is drawing a blank, but I can only think of several and I don't see us getting any of them...

Even if Cat is available, which its not been proven that he is, I am sure the Rockets would want more in return than Donyell Marshall.

Usually I agree with the consensus opinion on this board. But I'm in the complete opposite boat. I think the league has a ton of guys like Mobley and guys that put up Mobley like numbers. I think it's hard to find guys in the league that put 15/10 and can play both the 3 and 4 effectively. I think the Rockets would be crazy not to do the deal.

To be honest with you, Marshall is good value for Mobley, but I'd rather package Mobley with either Moochie or MoT to get rid of those contracts, and would want to get a Guard in return.

Agree. I'm sure it's already been said, but to me the ideal would be Mobley for Brent Barry. Great spot-up shooter, excellent passer, and his defense isn't that much worse than Cat's.

We agree on a lot of points, but I disagree on defense. Although I haven't watched Barry extensively, and really don't know how good his defense is, I know that Mobley has become a GOOD defender this year. Not decent, not "he tries"...no, he's GOOD at it.

I would like to trade him for Barry, but the Sonics have Desmond mason, and if Barry goes, he's going to start.
