I'm sure most of the users of this board are from Texas and don't realize they have a really great college player just a state away to the west in New Mexico.

His name is Ruben Douglas. He's the leading scorer in the nation for Division I mens college basketball with 28.2 ppg.

He's a 6-5 shooting guard from Altadena, Ca, the only senior on the squad and he's just a stud.

His stock, 30 days ago was near 300-350. Now he can be found on your local mock drafts in the ranges of 40 to 50, going in the 2nd round.

He's just a great player. I can't stress over how much this guy is kicking th Mountain West Conferences' ass. 33.3 ppg in conferenece play.

Granted, he's basicially the whole team, you probably think getting 43 points in a loss to Wyoming is nothing. But when the whole opposing defense is based around stopping Ruben and that being unfulfilled all 22 games this year, you've gotta wonder how many points can this guy really drop on you. Team's come with triple teams, they guard him 4 ft. out of the 3 pt. line, yet he still gets it done. Every player on the opposing bench has attempted to guard Ruben and stop him, yet it doesn't seem to work for them.

I just want you guys to remember this name. RUBEN DOUGLAS.

A friend says he plays a lot like Casey Jacobson. But I call him a Casey J. with a better FT%, more quickness, and a better stroke from deep.

    That's just scary.

I have not seen him play, but I know Arizona let him go because they didn't think he was good enough for PT there. Of course at the time it look like Arenas would be the Arizona shooting guard right now and Jefferson would be the 3 up and till last year--but Arenas of course left for the pros as a soph and Jefferson as a junior.

Honestly the most impressive guard I have seen this year is Marcus Moore of WSU. He has been out of action (chronic feet I think) however since he tore up Arizona in a losing effort. No other guard prospect I have seen--including Hinrich, Ford, Shipp, Mouton, Ridnour--did Arizona have near as much trouble guarding as they did with Moore.

Let me just throw this out here.

Air Force is the #1 defense team in the nation, scoring wise, with a little over 56 points a game. Ruben Douglas had 32 pts. that game and they won by around twenty. No other Player against AF has scored abov 20 pts.

I think that says a lot.

He's attempted 170 three's already this year. But he's made 42% of them, ranking 33rd in the nation for 3 pt. %.

THe only chance the nation will get to see him play will be a 1st round Mountain West Conf. Tourney game on ESPN in mid march.

    Look out for that.

What is their FG% defense? That is more of an indicator of good defense, since PPG is more of a result of the pace of the game.

Douglas is a nice college player, but just isn't cut out for the pro game.

Scar- Didn't Douglas start his true Fr year, then was supplanted by Arenas, who was a true frosh, the next year?

    AF's defensive DG% is 44.4 %. Their offensive production is at 48%.

It's kind of tough to determine if he'll be a good Nba player. Right now nobody can stop him.

I'm sure he'll have his troubles in the pro's.

If he was an NBA prospect, scouts would have him higher on mock drafts.

Well, last week Ruben was ranked 44th on the mock draft list.

    This week he's ranked 35th.

    Last month he was unranked.
Two months ago, he wasn't even considered a top 100 senior
Three months ago, he wasn't even considered top 250 overall.

    He's gone along way.

The sleeper I am sticking with is Marcus Moore. Reminds me of Arenas with a more natural feel as a PG--much tougher to stop than Ridnour IMO.

Part of what makes Ridnour good, is his ability to move without the ball. ie get open for 3s or cheap back door layups.
