I say that they'll tread water and stay within a game of the Lakers, , then the official "stake in the heart" will come when they go 0-5 on that West Coast roadie in March...write it down
With this kind of team, I don't think we'll be dead until we're mathematically eliminated. Dammit, if these guys just click, they might even win the last 15 games in a row. But then again, we could be the 6th seed in March and lose every game from there. You can't tell. You just CAN NOT tell.
For me the official "stake in the heart" came when our best player could not can a pair of free throws to open a 4 point lead with about a minute to go against the Jazz. I am still a fan and I hope we win it all, but that was the point at which I realized I can only invest so much emotional capital in this team. I fully expect next years team to be better and I think I am realistic when I expect to win championships in the future. Our best hope to make the playoffs is Phoenix falls. I say falls specifically, becasue we are not going to take it away from anybody. Inconsistancy is death in the playoffs. If we make it, it will only be for instructional purposes for our future teams.
But Shaq's seriously hurting this time. Knee, toe, and stomach (from taking the indocine). I think that if the Lakers were playing ANYONE else for their next game, Shaq wouldn't play. But thsi game is too important in all aspects.
I agree... Their will really be some haters out there after March... The "stake in the heart" was me watching the UofH vs. Louisville 1983 National Championship Game on ESPN Classic... It was awesome to see the DREAM and CLYDE, but just like the ROX, will break our hearts in the end...
They're dead now. Dead Men Jacking. But, hey, I got my daughter tix to the Zombie show v. Dallas Fri. Woo hoo! I'm REALLY hoping to see some new zombies by then!
They were dead the day that Francis came to the scene. I guess that was like, August 31, 1999? A day that will live in infamy for Rockets fans.
Well you're the first I've seen say it like that. Unfortunately I'm starting have my own doubts too. I mean, focusing an offense around a 6'3" guy who can't pass and has a low bball IQ? There's still time though...
when you start seeing nachbar and moochie play, you know the rockets are done for this year and is looking forward to next year.
If you are talking about officially out of the 8th spot, then you're probably right. But Rockets has been officialy dead in the last couple of games. They blew so many easy games already. To me, the playoff race is already over. It's just a matter of time before they are officially out of the 8th spot.
