While I do think Josh Smith would make this team alot better, Im not sure he's "The Answer" to all of their problems. Especially when he might command close to a max contract this Summer to retain long term.

Smith helps out on the boards, and especially on defense where he really is underrated.

Sort of like Millsap, and Jefferson, he might be worth waiting till the Summer to acquire unless you can get him for cheap at the deadline this February. He's probably going to cost you too much in trade given the fact that Atlanta is still in the playoff hunt, and wont want to give him up for cheap.

Yeah, I'm not saying we can't make adjustments, but right now it seems that our offense is predicated on keeping the lane open for Harden. Morris and Patterson have been relagated to 3 point shooters. It would be nice to have someone with good hands that could finish those pick and rolls though. I'm tired of watching Asik fumble with passes and putting up weak shots around the basket.

I'm so glad none of you are the GM, so the Rockets are the highest scoring team in the NBA and for som odd reason everyone is focused on Jsmoove lack of offense when it's defense that is definitely what this team needs. Smith is great rebounder and paint protector, and is exactly what the Rockets need to add. Our current rotation at the 4 lacks both defense and rebounding. If we could get similar offensive contribution from smith with his defense rebounding, and ability to run the floor, would put the Rockets right on pace to building a contender. IMO

You obviously know nothing about JSmith. He is an undersized pf that is an average rebounder and not elite at anything defense except in weak side shot blocking. He is also a highflyer w not so good IQ, and that does not age well.

not if we can get him in free agency, or maybe he'll even pull a lebron, and take a pay cut to win.

Average meaning he's still a better rebounder than Patterson and Morris.

Without a 5 year contract the Rockets are outt of the race to sign a superstar outright. They'll have to bank on makina a trade for that second guy and that posibly means taking a star that doesn't shine among the brightest.

This team needs DEFENSE which smith brings as well as in tradition offense. He has a decent post game.Just needs to fix his IQ with 3s and jumpsuits. He is worth 8-10 million so we can sign another TOP FA. Harden Smith ____. Hopeful he takes a paycut like LeBron to win.

josh smith would be an awesome addition. he's not doing anything with his team now and he knows hes going nowhere.

however i think we need to focus on a good player at the 4 first before we worry about any more guards.

I think acquiring Josh smith will be a good move for the rockets for now and the future...

    1. we will surely upgrade our roster, and increase our winning percentage.
    2. Rockets will be even more fun to watch. we will now have someone who can actually catch those friggin alley-oops.
    3. and if he doesn't pan out, we can trade him for a younger better player (similar to what we did with kevin martin)

it is easier to trade a Josh Smith than our current youngsters in the future.

his lack of BBIQ will be compensated by Harden and Lin as they will be the primary ball handler... he just needs to be in the right position at the right time (I think he will or he doesnt get the ball)

Great move, if we can steal him like Lakers stole Dwight with draft picks and a damaged player. Good move, if we trade him for non-starters.

A lot of people in this thread haven't been watching Josh Smith recently. He has really become a much smarter player who has diversified his game. He makes very good outlet passes to start fast breaks and then runs the floor real well to finish as a trailer, he has shown he can score in the low post, has cut down on shooting long range jump shots, especially 3s, improved passer, still gives you good shot blocking, and just plays better overall basketball. He would be a solid addition to any team and a definite upgrade for the Rockets. He'd be a great 3rd upper-tier talent to have on the team, which means Houston would still need a legitimate star to go along with Harden unless role player development skyrockets, which I doubt. Cousins would still be my top choice over Smith, Millsap, and Gortat.

He's actually shooting more 3s a game than ever. And did you watch the Hawks game earlier this season? He was still just shooting jump shots. Bet you didn't expect anyone to check on your points.

Josh way better than any pf we got, he protects the paint, rebounds, blocks shots, and RUNS THE FLOOR IN TRANSITION. Every thing rockets need and yet people try to make up things to discredit him.
