We have this tree in our front yard, and I've been advised that its roots are sucking up water away from our foundation and I need to get it removed before it causes further damage. The plumber said its a cypress tree and it drinks a lot of water (has lots of little root stumps sticking out all over the place).

Can anyone recommend a good tree removal company that does a good job and will save me money doing so? I'm still looking at foundation repair after this and I can't afford to spend a lot.

depends on how big the tree is and how much they have to remove. plus, a charge for the stump grinding. it sounds like a big tree. could be around at least $700 with $200 for the stump grinding included. i would be weary if it goes over $1,000. and, you probably want someone insured/bonded doing it in case of an accident. always get a few estimates at least. i had a few estimates and the difference between the two for my job was significant.

I have a list of tree services companies at home since i'm looking for tree trimming of two large oak trees. I Based on angie's list posts, a tree removal shouldn't be over $1k, like Surfguy said.

About two years ago, I had a tree that was sick, I called Jones Rd Tree service and they sent somebody out for free to look at it. He called me when he was at my house and told me it was beyond hope and if I wanted to I could have them come back and remove the tree for 250 (I honestly can't remember if that included grinding the stump, but I think it did) and it was a big tall pine tree. He also said they would just bill me for it which I thought was awesome. I was actually at home when they came, and did the work and took the tree and never bothered me (I was afraid they would come ask for the money while there). I was really happy with their service.
