All those cats are probably going to be euthanized anyway, but I doubt that makes people as uncomfortable as the horror of people eating them. Whatever.

Hard to believe bigtexxx went to Korea. Unless he had reason to go to the countryside not sure where he "seen this" personally. Maybe he should drop his prejudices before visiting other countries.

Curious to know what part of Seoul (or other city) exactly that he stayed?

Maybe Chinese people should start to protest against the American dietary choice to hunt down and partake fire-roasted Bambi's every hunting season. The population control justification definitely doesn't apply to the estimated 70 million stray cats we have in the US.

Then again the Chinese probably realize it's none of their business.

I stayed at the Westin Chosun when I was there. It's near city hall. I actually watched the PSY free concert from my window. I was there then.

They need energy in Korea, and bigtexxx was the man with the plan.

The Koreans loved me, by the way (and no, not in that way....I'm a happily married man). Soju bombs and Johnny Walker shots all night long. They called me "big capacityyy"! hahahaha gun bae b****es!!!

I've never seen anyone eating or even talking about eating meat of cat or horse in my whole life in China.

You think culture was created right now? As of thirty years ago, many people in China did not eat meat more than once a year (during the Chinese new year), now think about that for a while.

If we tell people in the US to stop eating beef tomorrow because Cows are sacred, you think people in this country would listen?

Personally, I think eating cats and dogs are gross.

I would be equally disgusted by the sight of dozens of baby deer crammed on top of each other in a cage. Wouldn't you? One has to be pretty inhuman to not find this image totally unsettling.

Are you saying the target consumers of these 1,000 cats are starving? That was my question.

Why are the Chinese so obsessed with eating pets?

Of course not, but they have their taste or cultural tradition from roots way back in the past, you do not change that just because people can afford live stock meat now. People in this country consider cats and dogs pets, not so in many parts of the world.

How do we treat race horses and dogs in this country?

Shooting deer and does is acceptable in the US. Would it also be acceptable for Chinese people to gun down stray dogs and cats with a hunting rifle? I got a feeling the sight of it would make your stomach turn a little.

What's disgusting to one culture could be completely acceptable in another. Who's to say your "disgusting" is more "right" than mine? Would you enjoy a vegan telling you how abhorrent of a person you are for eating animals? Omnivore's Dilemma has some vivid imagery of how the farm animals are bred and slaughtered. Where's the public outcry of that? Just because chicken and cows aren't pets, they are the lesser animals who deserve no compassion?

I haven't heard of cat but I have dog and horse in parts of China. I am not surprised the article mentioned Guangdong (Canton for westerners). My dad who is from Hong Kong once told me that Cantonese will eat anything in the ocean except for a submarine, anything that flies except for an airplane and anything with four legs except for a table.

To all those taking the side that eating cats/dogs/raccoon/horses/roadkill isn't nasty, I have a question...

Would you personally eat any of those?

I'm not making an issue out of the general practice of slaughtering animals for food. But people can at least be mindful on how they store, transport, and treat the animals before killing them. Especially when we're talking about creatures that are intelligent and experience fear.

Hope you have similar concern over poor livestock over here.

Guess you'll be Vegan if already aren't. Also I like how everyone "sicken" by non-American culture skipped over my lobster observation.
