Before last week, it was The Brethren by John Grisham. However, Richard Ford's The Sportswriter just took over the top spot.
"Airport" by Arthur Hailey. I actually had to read this melodramatic shlock for a college English class. Blech.
AHHHHHHH!!! For shame! For me, it would have to be The Pearl by John Steinbeck. Good LORD, that guy is depressing. I had to read that for the same class Mrs JB was in (I didn't actually read Airport so I cannot comment. He he he ). That's how we met. AWWWWWWWW!
I agree. My entire first semester of junior year was devoted to Hawthorne. Ugh. I just picked up a hilariously premised book: Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore.
it should be: "...the worse book you had to read". I never finished a bad book.... But Jane Eyere was pretty bad.
The Old Man in the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. My teacher gave me so many tests over that 100 page book it was insane, and it wasn't a good book. It was 100 pages of nothing happening. Man looks at left hand, Man prepares for Marlin, Man fights Marlin for 50 pages, Sharks eat Marlin at the end.
The Bible it had no plot, and ever time i related with a character they got cut into 13 pieces or they had interracial sex and their innards fell out.
That makes me so sad, I loved that book, I think that is one of the few hemingway books that i like Man i hated shpere, well make that the ending of shpere. I go through this great book thinking the ending will at least be decent, but no Mike had to just pull something out of his butt. I mean isnt that ending the same as, . . . . . and then I woke up, to find everything was okay.
I'm shocked! I thought that was one of the best books I was ever forced to read. As for the worst book I've ever read... "Bad As I Wanna Be"... man I wish I could have that hour back!
IVFL, the book just bored me, except for the excerpts with the man and his young friend and their discussions about baseball, since I love sports and all.
