No one should take 40+ shots a game. If Yao takes 40 shots a game, something is wrong with our offense. Ideally, I'd like to see Yao emerge as the first option on offense and take around 20 shots a game. No one-man team ever won a championship.
i'm not a kobe hater. i'm just disgusted when i see a guy who plays one against five. have y'all ever seen one player putting up 40+ shots in a game, not to mention playing along the most dominant center in the game? not even AI and mcgrady ever takes that many shots in a game.
With Yao, if he were in good physical shape, as was able to sustain his energy taking 40 shots, he'd make 25 of them. 50 points on 40 shots, and that's not counting FT's. I'd take that anyday. But of course, Yao is in bad physical shape in terms of energy and stamina t the moment. Here's a line-up I'd like to see against the Lakers a lot Ming Griffin MoT Posey Francis Kobe would have trouble against any zone this team puts up. Unfortunately, it's Shaq who we will have to worry about. He wants revenge for those 3 blocks. Remember, in head-to-head minutes, Shaq had 16 points to Yao's 10, Shaq had zero blocks to Yao's 3, and I think Yao outboarded him too. Shaq's been taking a rest through Kobe's hot stretch and will be very very fresh for our game, unfortunately.
LOL!! FIRST of all, The Lakers had won 6 straight with Kobe taking as many shots as he wanted. They just happened to lose this one because Duncan took care of Shaq. Second of all, Iverson doesn't shoot that much? Are you kidding me? I think Iverson AVERAGE 30+ FGA a game.
Does it matter...? He still averages the 6.whatever that Major said he averages. Kobe is on a great stretch right now. Easily one of the best 8 game stretches of the last 10 years. That many points/shots, and he is still shooting over 50 %? The only good thing is that Shaq isn't getting the ball very much; we should expect more energy from Yao on the offensive side. Right now, there is little comparison to be made between Kobe and Steve.
James23 - You really need to see the other last 8 or so games where kobe has been on this streak. Honestly this is the most spectacular thing I've ever seen consistently from one player in all my life(sorry MJ I don't have cable). When Kobe's hot he's HOT, he could take any shot whether he's falling away, behind the backboard, 30ft out, etc. I don't care if there's all 5 players guarding him Kobe is going to hit it. Really there just isn't a shot he can't make agianst anyone right now, which is why he takes so many shots. And plus his teamates want him to not beacuse they want him to lead the league in points or anything but because they know he will score for the team to win. Right now he is the best player in the league, he's on a different level than everyone, I mean I seen other players score 40 like T-Mac but Kobe does it in big spurts, he can get you 20pts in 8mins and just kill the other a teams momentum because they will find themselves down more than 20 in no time. Alot of these Laker wins have been blowouts because Kobe kills them in 3 quarters. The scores are deceiving because the fouth quarter teams come back while kobe sits it out. Let's just say most or all of Kobe's points have come before the fourth starts and sometimes at halftime. He is unbelieveable right now and unstopable which is why he shoots so much. Hope that helps answer your question on why he took 40 shots. I'm hoping he doesn't take 40 shot on us.
ok, y'all don't believe me. i looked at the kobe's game-by-game stats @ nba. if you are interested, go here: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/game_by_game_stats.html below are games that kobe took over 30 shoots. his team lost 6 out of those 9 games. 11/15 - vs warriors = 40 shots -> win 11/29 - vs grizzlies = 35 -> win 2/4 - vs pacers = 31 shots -> win 11/7 - vs celtics = 40 shots 11/17 - vs rockets = 37 shots 11/27 - vs magic = 31 shots 12/20 - vs sixers = 35 shots 1/4 - vs suns = 32 shots 2/14 - vs spurs = 41 shots LA's #1 Rocket Fan, trust me, kobe's nowhere close to MJ was before. during MJ's prime, teams, especially detroit, used all 5 guys on the floor to stop mike legally but often illegally, and still couldn't do it. in addition, football-like physical plays were a norm in those days. guys didn't go for the ball when they tried to stop the offensive guys from scoring. just watch old films of detroit pistons, charles barkley and karl malone.
What is he shoots 40 shots...and Shaq has 80 shots???!?!?!?! What if we never get the ball? What if Shaq has 80 points? And kobe has 40? Well anyways.....ROCKETS DO NOT HAVE A CHANCE AT WINNING. Sorry... I wish.
