I don't remember it being that clear cut. Regardless, that's not the point. It's not about the rejection - it's his bizarre statement of "I don't know why the Rockets keep doing this to themselves". You don't know until you try. A lot of times you will get rejected. But to win big in the NBA, you have to put yourself out there and take your shots at the big fish. Not sure what they're supposed to "not do" to themselves, aside from taking the UH/Rice/Prairie View all-star teams.

Lol. Maybe when dsm V comes out we'll have a better definition to classify him under. I havent personally sat with White as his physician so I dont know for sure, but as you know a lot of these disorders are a spectra and my point is that most people limit him to just G.A.D. and there may be more to it, including personality disorder traits.
However, i doubt this is munchaussen as it really doesnt fit the profile imo.

A question for the more knowledgable members, (calling Bima) NBA teams have until Jan. 15 to ask for an injury exception and a player must be ruled out until at least June 15, is it feasible for the Rockets to apply for the injury exemption in regards to Royce White?

It will give us an extra roster spot to potentially add a rotation player in our push for the playoffs or we could find the next Greg Smith...

    Your thoughts...

injury exception does not give us an extra roster spot, just a salary cap exception for the rest of the season which we don't really need.

league could grant team an extra spot if they feel the team was hit exceptionally hard by injury, which is not the case for rockets

I unfollowed this idiot a while ago, but just went back to have a look:

Does he want to spend the next few years tweeting and re-tweeting the same repetitive crap?

    It's boring! Nobody cares.

I think it's pretty much impossible to diagnose White without talking to him, but he could have any or all of these problems. As you know, there is some subjectivity in making a diagnosis- it is not like these are objective, verifiable biological categories. So one person can diagnose a personality disorder while another would diagnose with PTSD. At the hospital where I work, people aren't often diagnosed with personality disorders, probably because they are so stigmatizing and the diagnoses don't help treatment much. People usually only get borderline personality disorder if they repeatedly piss off their therapist and engage in therapy interfering behaviors, which I could see White doing. But people with BPD usually have a pretty severe abuse history or significant trauma.

I'm sure White has something. Nobody would just completely screw themselves out of a lucrative career like he has and not have some kind of mental health issue. GAD sounds like a likely diagnosis, but who knows? When he started talking about OCD, that is when I started to think that he is just thinking about strategizing legally, since OCD is considered more of a biologically-based disorder than the other anxiety disorders, I believe. Maybe he thought by saying that he had OCD he would have a better case against the Rockets. But again, all we can do is guess.

The fact that Royce White isn't even staying in game shape says it all: This guy is a fraud; he is not actually interested in playing; he just wants his money and be a bum.

All the protocol crap is bogus. He knows there is no way the NBA will sign it. The Rockets are doing the right thing: Suspend him without pay and wait for the offseason. Dude can either try to be an NBA player or go flip burgers. Oh wait, he can't. McDonald's isn't signing the stupid protocol, either.

Hate to be the one bumping this thread (I'm proud of the fact that it wasn't in the first page of the GARM) but I got curious because of this insider article http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8847777/nba-royce-white-skills-worth-controversy Is it any good? Can anyone share?

That also led me to this video: OTL: Royce White - Mental Health and the NBA OTL [Outside the Lines] will be discussing Royce White on Tuesday, January 22 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.

    <script src="http://player.espn.com/player.js?&playerBrandingId=4ef8000cbaf34c1687a7d9a26fe0e89e&pcode=1kNG061cgaoolOncv54OAO1ceO-I&width=576&height=324&externalId=espn:8847203&thruParam_espn-ui[autoPlay]=false&thruParam_espn-ui[playRelatedExternally]=true"></script>

Looks like a must watch. So is Royce White studying public speaking with all his extra-time? He was already good but that's the one area where I see #progress, This is as well spoken I've seen a rookie. He was actually managing to score some sympathy points with me... until I shook my head at his comments on the D-league assignment.
