A win over a playoff team puts you two games ahead of them. A win over a non-playoff team puts you two games ahead of them. I don't give a crap about being an extra two ahead of a non-playoff team. Putting more distance between yourself and other playoff hopefuls or closing more distance is great.
Sure it's already been said, but New Orleans isn't a true bottom feeder when Eric Gordon is healthy. They just beat the Spurs also.
when u look at the calender if your a logical human being you say if you 1-3 against the spurs and 1-3 against the thunder thats pretty good , but you also say if you go 1-3 in those games you gotta go 3-1 against the hornets and 3-1 against the kings look the hawks have a good record because the mainly beat teams they should , same for us we have to beat the teams that are beneath us and try to steal those 50-50 games and home games where were the underdog , i would never wanna lose to a team that sucks like the hornets when ur leading by 10 in the 4th dont tell me tired legs its not our first back to back and its 35mins away we won back to back milwaukee and cleveland , chicago and minny it was poor execution poor rotation and poor defense when roger mason beats you its sad and when you score 2 points in the first 8 mins of a quarter its worse , no team makes the playoffs with our turnover average it will catch up eventually hopefully lin and harden will learn not to throw stupid passes
We beat the 8th grade team 44 to 37. I was so excited since we were just 7th graders and then the the next day we lost to the 5th graders. Okay it doesn't matter that EDDIE OWENS played for the 5th graders and later lead Houston Wheatley to a state championship. Still we definitely had a let down after that big win. Okay Eddie Owens signed with Jerry Tarkanian's Las Vegas' Runnuin Rebels and got drafted by the NBA and he was 6'4" in the 5th grade but life is life.
Its pretty simple. You want wins against the teams that you are going to be competing with for a playoff spot. Its exteremly important that the Rockets win as many games as possible against this likes of- -Denver -Portland -Lakers -Golden State -Dallas -Minnesota -Phoenix -Utah These teams should be there regardless so the games aren't exactly as important -OKC -Spurs -Clippers -Memphis Then the East coast teams & Western Conference bottom feeder games will sort of take care of themselves. You want wins whenever you can get them, but you especially want wins at all cost against your Western Conference rivals because of tie breakers at the end of the season that cost you the playoffs.
They are way better than there record now that they have a healthy team. They have a ton of talent, and if they can keep Gordon healthy in the long haul they will be right there with the Rockets as a future force in the West.
It depends on where you at team stands. If your an experienced playoff team, than losing to a bottom feeder is preferred. The team knows who they are and getting their act together isnt as big of an issue. Young teams looking to maybe compete for a playoff would rather lose to a better team. Teams like the Rockets can learn more from an experienced team like the Celtics than losing to the Hornets. Its more important the Rockets figure things out. They can beat the bottom feeders more often than not. I think most would agree the losses to the Celtics and Spurs was more educational than the losses to the Hornets or Raptors.
The fact that the Rocket's still have remnants of the incompetent medical and training staff from the Yao & Tmac Era amongst them *cough* Keith Jones *cough* means it's already somewhat of a losing situation. I hope the health of this current Rockets squad doesn't take a turn for the worst which will prevent them from progressing thus inciting a team breakup through premature trades.
They beat the Spurs right before us, and then the Timberwolves right after us. The Hornets and the Trail Blazers are two dangerous teams to watch out for now on our way to the playoffs.
This is not a stupid question. It's one of the major question the coaching staff and players have to ask themselves before every game, and better have some consensus among themselves on.
According to your list, the bottom feeder Hornets took care of us in the last one. I hope our team learn enough from it so we can beat them again on 1/25. We can't afford to continue to lose must-win games, or we will see ourselves passing by the door to the 8th seed.
