Let's not forget this is still a very young team. I see a lot of bold predictions. If they dont meet those expectations I can see all of the 'Fire McHale', 'Trade Lin', 'Harden is a ballhog' threads coming. I think a record slightly above .500 this month would be good for this team. Thankfully we are young and should have the energy to handle the back-to-backs. How we shoot and play could be a different story. I will say they are starting to look like they are figuring things out on the floor. Lin and Harden are beginning to play off of each other well. With Patterson and Delfino back the rotation is back in order. So I am anxious to see how things go from here. We are definitely going in the right direction now.
Man, poll results say we got some cocky fans, which is fine as long as they don't turn when the going gets tough.
I wouldn't say there's much different between road and home games in terms of crowd support. Either people don't show up or show up late and leave early during Toyota Center games. And Rockets get mad-love from JLin fans during road games. I'd say back-2-backs will have a bigger impact on our performance than being on the road. That is, disregarding jet lag, etc.
Dang with the way the Rockets have been playing this month isn't going to be nearly as tough as I once thought it would be.
Look, there are still 21 games left before the All-Star break. Then 26 games remaining in the season after that. For the Rockets to make the playoffs they really need to finish with 48 to 50 wins. You would think that the front office would have wanted this team to be at 30 to 35ish wins by the all-star break. So, if they went .500 the rest of the way they would be right around 45 to 48 wins right where they projected since the beginning.... fighting for the last 2 or 3 playoff spots. you look at the rest of January, I see 9 games they really should win. If they win the games they are supposed to win, and steal a game or two more they could see themselves at 32 or 33 wins going into the All-Star break. Not bad. After the All-Star break, there is an extremely favorable schedule with a ton of home games in a row in March where you could see them making a nice run to finish the season. Possibly 15 or the final 26 games are favored for the Rockets. Even if the wheels fall off for a few games in a row throughout the rest of the season, I still think this team should be good enough to finish between 45 and 50 wins. Not bad for the youngest team in the league. Lets all rub a rabbits foot now, and knock on wood for a little good luck and good health.
