OK, assuming the Rockets re-sign Posey, they'll have him, Rice, and Nachbar under contract for next year. This means either Morris or Hawkins is gonzo after this season. Which one do the Rockets re-sign? Hawkins' shooting hasn't been that good lately, and Morris seems to be able to hit the outside shot on a consistent basis. Hawkins also plays good defense, and may be worth a minimum contract for that.

Or, option #2, let them both walk, which will either free up more salary for Posey or possibly sign a free agent? Any good, cheap free agent small forwards out there?

I like Hawkins D, but Morris is more valuable to the team because he does several things well. Morris is turning into an excellent role player on this team. To me, its a no brainer.

Hawkins is a nice player but I would rather have Morris. He is versitle enough to play the 3 and 4 spot and I think he has much more potential than Hawkins who probably has reached his potential at this late stage in his game.

    Hawkins = Oscar Torres-Tierre Brown-Matt Bullard-

What does these all have in commen???? They are adored by fans simply because they are good in only one aspect of the game and they are fan favorites cus they work hard. But what it comes down to is talent. These guys are hard workers and i love that about them but we just have too much talent to go around for these guys to be on the team. Its too bad we cant keep all these guys :-(. I love Hawkins but i know Posey is much more talented and can do more for us, Hes like Hawkins but taller and a better scorer. I mean if we can keep Morris im all for it this guy is really turning into a good role player ala Robert Horry/Matt Bullard/Eddie Johnson/and yes SUPER MARIO Elie,I have a feeling MOrris is going to hit alot of BIG! shots for us on our way to the NBA Championship in a few years.

Doesn't Hawkins play the 2? Why is it either/or?

resign both of them if they are cheap; otherwise, the rox can pick up similar players anytime.

Hawkins really isn't a "shooting guard" in the purest sense of the word because he can't shoot that well and has trouble putting the ball on the floor. He and Morris are interchangable, which is why I think that one of them will be gone after this season. Plus, signing both of them means that much less money for Posey...

If we resign Posey, then Hawkins is redundant. I would rather keep Morris.

Were the Rockets playing better with Hawkins in the starting lineup when Mobley was out?

I would like the Rockets to focus on defense and put Hawkins & Posey in the starting lineup with Mobley off the bench. Hawkins does not need to be a big time shooter to contribute to the team. The offense can run through Ming & Francis. We need Mobley as the spark plug, NOT MOOCHIE!!

    DEFENSE< DEFENSE!

If they're all on the team right now, why would one of them automatically have to be gone? They're all under contract right now. Also Morris has been used almost exclusively at the 4 spot.

Does the possibility exist that both Posey and Morris will get some interest in the restricted FA market? The decision may not entirely reside with the Rockets if this is the case. TMo is dirt cheap at 512k...surely another team has noticed has stroke has improved markedly from last season.

I like Hawkins D, but Morris of late has been consistent...

I don't think any worthy free agents will be worth the money than these two..

Seeing three terps on this team would make me more giddy than a school girl!! All we need to do then is re-sign the Wizard and Tony Massenburg (who is playing well), trade and get Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox, pick up Lonny Baxter, snag Laron Profit and Obina Ekieze from the NBDL, and find whatever deserted island Keith Booth is playing on, and we will be set.

Oh yeah, pick up John Lucas as asst. coach and get Lenny Elmore from ESPN to be the TV anaylist and then it will be complete. (Can Bonnie Bernstien, terp alumn, work the sidelines?)

Rice isn't going to be with us next season. We don't need his expiring contract as much as we need role players and need to get rid of bad contracts.

Also, Boki will get a few more minutes. Next year will essentially be his rookie season.

Posey can do ANYTHING hawkins can do. Terrence Morris might very well overtake Posey as the starter if he shows the same rate of improvement over this summer. Can you honestly tell me that if he polishes his jumpshot VERY slighty and works hard on putting the ball on the floor, he can't be the starter?

Here's what I hope to see as our multi-dimensional SF rotation next year:

    Posey/Boki/T-Mo

With Posey being the #1 backup at the 2, and T-Mo backing up the 4 some. Boki will get a good 15 minutes.

No way we keep Hawkins. I'm sure we'll get rid of Rice too, especially if he plays BARELY decent when he comes back.

We can even animate Len Bias's corpse...he's probably more mobile than Glen Rice anyways!
