GRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr....... I know... Those of you on the chat last night may recall that I left only because I wanted to see some highlights from the game. (I was hoping they'd show Hakeem's dunk) But NOTHING... I, too, stayed up for 2 hours, when I should have been studying, sleeping, SOMETHING productive... But no, all we got were BlueJackets highlights.... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain - Remember the old days when people used to actually earn their posts? http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/004775.html
If you have digital cable, NBA.com shows all the high and low-lights of the games. I know it's not ESPN but it's highlights. Foxsports and CNNSI showed clips as well. ------------------
Better get used to it! ESPN and other mainstream sports media (electronic and print) give the NBA only lip service at the best of times. The Rockets perennial favorites as the great unwashed and unseen. And then only when something interesting like: 1. Only if wildlife parcheesee or competitive basketweaving is in the off season. Which is rarely, it being a multi-cultural magnate for all the standing professional leagues in Ghana, Norway, Iberia, and lately the small principality of Cleveland. 2. If a scandal is just below the surface, so their hardnosed journalist can push away their twinkies and fritos, long enough to uncover the real truth. Example: Hakeem is building a mosque in a dlapidated mall in Houston. The scandal? He's only using workers who will work. Damn capitalist! 3. Only if they ( ESPN, NBC, Fox, Associated Press, Disney, etc ) have a personal financial investment in the coverage. Example: the ESPN sponsored Disney EuroClassic Golf Tournament, from New Delhi, where the leader is some "pro-golfer" called "Muhkmoud The Enforcer". 4. And only as long as it does not interfere with baseball regular season, baseball playoffs, winter baseball, baseball off-season rumors, pre-pre-spring training, pre-spring training, and spring training, the grapefruit league, the pineapple league, the orange league, the rutabaga league and the world series of all leagues ... that bastion of political correctness .... any baseball, softball or slowpitch ball that includes ladies, girls, womens or co-ed in the title .... 5. Of course ESPN alone now has contracts with MLB, NHL, MSL, WWF and regionalized contracts with the farm teams and development leagues for esach, so they have to be promoted. This all boils down to one three minute NBA spot every 72 hours at 3AM during weekends only. .... now if we could just have a general strike, have a team plane disaster, or some badboy "Basketball Star" wrote a disparaging book, or recorded an album with "trashy" gangsta rap ..... .... Mmmmmm, there are some possibilities ...... I think if we all put our heads together we could do this .......
I watched two hours of SportsCenter (same show, just replayed), last night and this morning. I couldn't believe what I saw, or rather, didn't see: the Rockets. ESPN completely dissed the Rockets (and the Hornets) by not evening mentioning the game, let alone show a score or possibly (is this asking too, much?) show some highlights. Several other NBA games were covered and their highlights were shown. ESPN, why no love? ------------------ I'd rather be MC Hammer than Nine Inch Nails
That Sucks! I thought I just kept missing the Rockets Highlihgts while switching channels back and forth. ------------------ Moses begat Sampson, Sampson begat Hakeem, And Hakeem led us to the promised land
I tape every game, so if I am bored late at night between game days, I watch it again. I highly recommend this practice, although your friends and family will accuse you of being a fanatic. ------------------ What a slam dunk!!
