Seriously, do some moms think it's decent to breast feed in public? If we're heading there, we're definitely not there yet.

I was thinking the same thing. Had it been a "hot" mom that was breastfeeding, this would be a non story.

 

Title is misleading. The Galleria didn't kick her out....Hollister's manager did.

I am a former GM for a major retailing chain and also have spent time working in the Galleria. If this situation would have happened in my store, I would have...

1) Ignored it if she was not creating a disturbance unless a guest complained.
2) If a guest complained or she was obviously creating a disturbance I would have discretely approached her and offered her a fitting room for privacy.
3) If she was blatant and causing a scene contacted my District Manager and get partnership with him before kicking someone out of the store.

I think this GM is in some serious jeopardy of losing their job for this especially if the customer pushes the matter.

 

Yes, it's decent. And most mom's are very discreet about it still. And yet people still freak out over it. I really don't understand Americans.

 

Only guy that freaked out here is the manager, and I don't like the way he handled it. I of course wouldn't make a scene or be offended at all if I came across this, but of course, if state law says it's okay, then it's decent.

I hate to make this comparison, and try not to miss my point, but there are no state laws about burping and farting in public. Yes, we all understand breastfeeding is a natural thing, and I definitely wouldn't even glance twice if they were covered up. But some don't even feel the need to do that. No, we're not at a point where bare breasts in public is decent.

Guys, if you want to disagree, keep in mind this board is 99.9% male and there are no pootang points to be had here.

 

Go to a private place, like a restroom or even the dressing room and do it. Or Hell, if your kid is still so young that it needs to be fed every couple hours, maybe going shopping isn't the best thing to do.

 

It may be a natural part of human biological behavior, but as others have pointed out, so is urinating and defecating, and there are standards for not doing that in a public place. Breast-feeding should be restricted to semi-private areas, just as urinating and defecating are.

Some women think it's perfectly acceptable to breast feed in public, yet they would be horrified if some guy was standing or sitting in public with his schlong exposed...
