This strikes me as one of those rare trades that works out well for both teams. OKC has not lost a step and they added a number of good young players and draft picks. The upside for the Rockets is obvious. Nice job, Sr. Morey!
IMO, the Thunder would have been better off by trading Westbrook, who at the time had more value than Harden. A defensive pass-first PG fits more that team IMO. Could you imagine a lineup of: Rondo Harden Durant Ibaka Perkins How fun to watch would that team have been?
Rondo is highly overrated. OKC is the best offense in the league. Numero Uno. What is Boston again? a .500 ball-club in the Eastern Conference? Rondo is a good point guard, but he's no where bear Westbrook's level, nor would he have the same impact.
Hmm, I would take Rondo & Harden over Westbrook & KMart without blinking. And I hate everything Boston.
I don't agree with you. Rondo has led a team to a championship and is a great player. With Harden you can rest assured they would still have some scoring. Not saying that they don't have a great team, and that they won't win a ring, but Westbrook for Rondo would have been the best solution for OKC. If I'm playing in the Finals I'd rather have Rondo start at the PG position over Westbrook. Not only that but he'll be able to produce at a higher age. Westbrook is going to be the dumbest 30-year old PG ever. No more athleticism, no bball IQ,... Rondo-Harden-Durant you are SET for the next 5+ years.
Which is all very true, however one imagines Harden may have had SLIGHTLY more impact than Thab0 in that fantasy scenario? No? Would a Durant/Harden offensive combination (with Rondo) be better than a Durant/Westbrook (with Thab0)? Isn't that what the guy was proposing? [and surely Westbrook would have commanded more than a straight up trade for Rondo)
Yes he deserves it! I still think he should have gotten at least 3 player of week honors... Harden is doing incredibly well and I think most of us never thought he would be this good. Thank you OKC for giving us Harden. I know a lot of people were criticizing Houston for giving up way too much for Harden but in my opinion, it doesn't matter how many assets you trade away, as long as you got the best player out of the deal, you're a winner. The Rockets got the best player out of the deal but they also got an all star player that will be the foundation of their team moving forward. In my book, that's a win win deal.
I am still amazed Morey pulled off the NBA2K trade that brought this guy in. 23 years old, too?! Amazed.
I sure hope Sam Presti enjoys that bag of magic beans Morey gave him for Harden... Morey straight pimp'd him... I bet Sam is kicking himself in the @$$ on a nightly basis over this trade...
