any one out there feal like i do? Steve and the cat work well together, and i belive that mobley can and will do alot of good if we give him the start.
OK first of all it was just a pre season game. Second, well there is no second that was just a stupid post we were just experimenting because it was pre season maybe u should learn a little bit about basketball before u post. ------------------
ahh ok 1st this is some thing i have tought for a long time and 2nd if you don't like it then don't read it annd yes i know we are experimenting [This message has been edited by wgray (edited October 12, 2000).]
I think Mobes is a very athletic, super talented, etc ... individual. But he is also (still) an undisciplined, over-eager team player, a considerable amount of time. Good managers and good coaches use the best of what they got to optimum efficiency. Turn that undisciplined, seemingly negative attribute, into instant productivity. Example: Cuttino's offensive spark off the bench. Just like RT has been doing, and hopefully will continue to do. But more importantly though, RT can match-up as necessary, and if a Mobes and Francis backcourt will stump opponents, then (the ever-smart) RT would most likely go with it. But in game two of preseason???????
Right now he is more effective coming off the bench. Shandon does not have that instant offensive punch that Cat can provide. Like last year, Cat will get plenty of minutes. It doesn't really matter who starts. ------------------ RocketFuel is dead!
NO. Because of what oeilpere (oily pear?) said. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
NO WAY! Did you see the job SA did on Michael Finley? Shandon needs to start the game, because there are too many great 2 guards in the West. Finley, Rider, Smith, Anderson, Penny, etc.. ------------------ What a slam dunk!!
i am in favor of keeping it as it is... i think mobley is a great player yet still too inconsistent and takes ill advised shots... ------------------ I think people are forgetting that we are the rockets... WE DONT REBUILD...WE RELOAD....remember that..
TB3, Cat had a big role in containing Finley as well. Shandon played him well, but Cat guarded him a good portion of the minutes he played, and did very well. He denied Finley the ball, stripped him twice, cleanly, and boxed him out on the glass too. I was impressed with both SA's and Cat's defensive efforts. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I saw that TB. I was wondering the same thing. You included Rider in that group?? ------------------ Save our children from the TAAS test: TAAS test report card TAAS test fact sheet
I have to agree Cat's D has improved. But it can get better. Can you imagine both Cat and Stevie playing defense like Shandon on a consistant basis? Wow. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
oily...i like that team player description, alot. May I borrow it? Or as DaDakota requires, may I license it from you? my two cents on this neverending question: first the facts, he gets starter minutes and so does Shandon....and they will again this year. Noting that, ask yourself a question: at the 8-9 minute mark in the first quarter (rest time), what is better: bringing in Cato and Mobley or Cato and Anderson. I highly favor explosive offense in the 6th man position, not a glove defensive player. I want the glove playing 45 minutes, anyhow. Starting Mobley would detract from his effectiveness (1st) he'd have to wait for everyone else to get involved to establish himself offensively (2nd) Shandon would become the sixth man and most likely come in at the 3 leaving less playing time for our shooting forwards walt, bullard, and langhi. p.s. Is carlos rogers the heir for tony massenburg? ------------------ "Isn't the purpose of the game to put the ball in the basket?"
Stevie does just fine at setting the tempo for the rockets offense. They dont need Cat to start. If you got SA setting the tone on the defensive end to start the game and Cat coming off the bench for instant points, thats the perfect twoheaded monster. Also I beleive coming off the bench does keep Cats effeciency rating high. ------------------ I'ma need more than 6 and a half rebounds a game from the PF
I think it may be a better team with Mobley and Shanndon out there at the same time because Walt is a true bench player not a starter.
i just heard nbaleague pass will air all of the rockets regular season games. it's that great ------------------ tyron
I was referring to 2 guards that were very tough one on one matchups. You are correct, Rider is a head case, and he should not be mentioned with those other guys in any other context than being a tough defensive assignment. ------------------ What a slam dunk!!
Huh? Right. ------------------ Essentially the top two players to come out of college the last couple of years are Duncan, Carter, and Francis. - vince
