Last night's episode was badass as usual. I don't think there's ever been a more intense, sunspensful, riveting television show ever produced. Hell, I don't even know if I've ever seen a movie on the same level as 24. The show pulls absolutely no punches. It's almost to the point now where I can't even believe Fox is allowing some of it to be shown on television. Remember after 9/11 how touchy everyone was about violent movies or movies that might have some form of terrorism in them? Well this television show, has Islamic fundamentalists getting ready to blow up a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles, American government officials apparently tied to the bomb, innocent people being tortured and killed with electric saws by terrorists, and government agencies trying to get terrorists to talk by pointing guns at their children's head...among other things. Is anyone else surprised that, from what I can tell, there has been virtually no controversy surrounding this show? Anyways, I just think this is the most important TV show on television right now. It doesn't preach or try to villify any one particular group, it just gives a pretty introspective look on what might take place in that same situation. It's scary to think that the events in the show could easily be something that will have to be faced sometime in the future. And one last thing. If you were faced with the same situation, where the only way you could find out where the nuclear bomb is located is by getting the terrorist to talk, would you kill one of the terrorists children? I ask, because the President said he wasn't going to allow it, which kind of surprised me. It would be impossible to live with, but I think you would have to it.
Dude, I have the past 2 episodes on tape. I plan on watching them this weekend. Along with "The Shield", "24" is the best program on TV.
Yes, but unlike TV, I highly doubt that in such a pressure situation there's a dumb, annoying blonde just itching to screw things up, albeit unintentionally. 10 bucks says Kim screws up the bomb hunt another 37 times before 9:00 AM (the last episode). Hell, I'll bet she innocently walks into the airfield where the bomb is next week... As for the show itself, this season has been stellar. Lots of twists and surprises, to say the least. Jack Bauer is a badass. Last night, I thought the president's advisor (Michelle Forbes, or as I know her, Ensign Ro) was gonna bite it at the hands of Sherry Palmer. Guess not.
My friend and I always talk about this at work. Sure, she's attractive, but does Kim have an actual purpose on that show? I mean, other than hating her dad and getting abducted every third show? Part of me wants to see her have some link to the actual plot to prove she has a purpose, while the other part of me realizes it would be so far fetched it would border on lunacy. Not a big complaint, though. This show is beyond captivating. I still need to go out and buy the season 1 dvd's, although i've heard the special features leave a bit to be desired. Will Nina pop back up, soon? She is still alive, right? I think so....hmm.....
True. About the only criticism I have of the first season is all the women are either evil or stupid. Couldn't they have at least one useful female character? This season, the president's advisor and the other girl in CTU seem good so far, but I guess they just need some more time to screw **** up. Still, Kim's not too hard on the eyes, so I'm not complaining.
Kim is pointless, almost comic relief in a way. I'd say you plug the kid. The needs of the many.... (of course _I_ wouldn't shoot the kid)
I was really hoping that Kim would have been killed by the mountain lion in the last episode. The Kim story line has been rediculous. Otherwise, 24 has been great.
24 and The Shield. Best 2 hours of television. Add CSI in the mix and you have got yourself a night....
Like others have said, "The Shield" and "24" the best more compelling and action packed two hours on TV without a doubt! DC, Yeah the most recent episode was awesome! I just knew when the guy kicked over the kids chair and "shot" him it was a ruse. The kicking over of the chair was the clincher. Nevertheless, to answer your question. One kid for the lives of millions? Easy choice. No hesitation in pulling the trigger! The ends clearly justifies the means if that is your only choice! However, how about this sinario. What if the two sisters were in a situation where the good sister (forgot her name) had to kill her sister in the same situation. That would be tougher if the person you had to kill was related to you versus someone you did not know. P.S. As it was said above, the Kim angles are ridiculous! You would think she was being punished by the shows creators by putting her in some stupid situations! Totally worthless regardless of her looks or whatever. Chris
I can see it now... 9:00 - 10:00 PM: Kim locks her keys in the car and calls daddy for help. 10:00 - 11:00 PM: Kim flees from a horde of killer bees. CTU still has no clue where she is. 11:00 - 12:00 AM: Kim, suddenly realizing she made 2 dates at the same time (oh, the humanity!), attempts to make both, thereby resulting in "Charles In Charge"-style hijinks. 12:00 - 1:00 AM: Kim wanders aimlessly in the open until captured by terrorists. She miraculously escapes said terrorists because they are inexplicably dumber than she is. 1:00 - 2:00 AM: Kim is kidnapped again by a different set of terrorists. 2:00 - 3:00 AM: Jack Bauer goes off in search of Kim, thereby increasing the chance of nuclear detonation. For some unexplaind reason, Kim feels compelled to tell the terrorists everything she knows about CTU, her father, and the bomb. 3:00 - 4:00 AM: Kim falls in love with one of the bad guys and spends 60 minutes making googlie-eyes at him. 4:00 - 5:00 AM: Jack finds Kim, kills everybody else, and drops Kim off at a safe house (out of the blast zone). Kim promptly locks herself accidentally in a meat locker. 5:00 - 6:00 AM: Kim escapes the meat locker and, feeling neglected, decides to go in search of her father. She meets a nice man and promptly gets him killed during a police gun fight with gang members. Kim gets a boo-boo on her arm. 6:00 - 7:00 AM: The police take Kim back to the staton and book her for alleged prostitution. She proceeds to whine like a baby and call her daddy... again. 6:00 - 7:00 AM: Kim waits for a CTU agent to pick her up at the station, gets bored, and decides to strike out on her own. As she sets foot outside the police HQ, she is promptly captured by an escaped Nina and dragged back to the location of the bomb. The duo spend the rest of the time making out (hey, it's Fox, right?). 7:00 - 8:00 AM: Kim accidentally: 1) triggers the bomb countdown. 2) alerts the terrorists to the presence of her father (who is subsequently caught). 3) gets several agents killed (whom were trying to rescue her). 4) lets Marie Warner get away. 5) destroys vital evidence. 8:00 - 9:00 AM: Jack somehow kills all the bad guys, turns off the bomb, and saves the day. Kim hoards the credit, President Palmer awards her a Congressional Medal of Honor, and millions of TV viewers everywhere grit their teeth and shout obscenities at their television. The End.
LOL! Good stuff, Vescey! But you forgot to mention how Kim's hi-jinks will inevitably set off a course of events that will ultimately bring the little girl, Megan, back within the blast radius. I don't know how in the hell they're going to pull that off!
Yeah, eventhough Jack wasn't going to do it in the first place, I was just surprised the president told Jack, "I can't let you do it." The storyline with two sisters is promising. I bet it will either come down to Kate killing Marie, or more likely, Kate will persuade Marie to put down her gun and surrender.
I think the Kim part of the story was awesome when she was chased by the madman father. I think they'll write her back in in a big way. I can't wait until tuesday. Although it will have to be taped.
Man, I watched the last two weeks last night, I had them taped. This is such an amazing show. spoiler.................... I knew Jack wouldn't kill Ali's kids, but what a threat, what man could resist this torture. (yep you have to have kids to know what I am talking about ) Also, would you have a problem if the US used this sort of tactic to save millions of lives? What about torturing high level cabinet members? If it meant saving millions, I would have no problem with it, in the long run. 24 and The Shield, the finest programming on TV. Scrubs and Boomtown are good also.... Oh and I got "Band of Brothers" on DVD! Sweet!
I have not watched this show yet. Is there any point in starting now? I have missed the first episode the last two seasons and then figure that I've already missed out.
The whole time after the shower, I couldn't stop screaming at Kim for wearing a top that proudly displayed her nipples in the house of a man she doesn't know and in a location where she could not scream or run for help (the woods) if this man were to try something funny. What the hell was she thinking? The strange man lives alone and has little human interacton. I wouldn't try to tempt him with my supple breasts! And surprise, surprise, the show ends with my idea possibly coming to fruition in the basement. Stupid Kim!
