I sure hope we do something really productive with the Milwaukee's pick next year, because this lug can't jump, he's too slow to play D, and fat.

    Basically he's a space-eater with a so-so jumpshot.

Shank I agree. How can we use a first round pick on this guy?

Just like it's ridiculous to make one player an All-Star after one PRESEASON performance, it's also ridiculous to label someone a bust after one PRESEASON performance.

I do agree that work needs to be done, though.

    Agreed R95.....

Collier will need some work, but I do like that he has nice range and was pulling Bradley out, even though he only hit one "J."

He looked a bit lost at times. But let's not condemn him yet!

Besides guys, Rudy has repeatedly said that Collier will take time to be ready for the NBA. I trust that he knows more about this guy's potential than we do.

I would never label a rookie a bust after one pre-season game. Actually i would only label a rookie a bust if he did not show up at all in the summer leagues too... er, wait, on second thought... [IMG]

Ty Washington would have been a helluva lot more useful. And that´s not even mentioning Przybilla.

We trade Collier for Joel Pryzbilla. Has Milwaukee played a preseason game yet?? I dont know, but i think Pryzbilla's game will be very similar to Collier's minus the jumpshot although with a bit more athleticism.

If this is all a knee jerk reaction to Najera...
I didnt watch the game, but I did listen, and from what I heard it wasnt that Najera was dominating, it was that other players on his team were setting him up very well.
Second, Njera was the 38th pick in the draft. That means that 37 other players were picked before him. And, in the end, it was Rudy who eventually chose him, although for trade purposes.
Is Najera producing now? MAybe. Or maybe he just got a lot of minutes in a the very first preseason game.

THe thing I find very encouraging is that our projected main players dominated Dallas'. Dallas's starting five did pretty bad and that I find very encouraging.

Najera didn't dominate any facet of the game. He had 9 boards, 23 points. Most of his points came on offensive rebounds and put backs. He only hit one shot outside of 3-5 feet, and it was at the free throw line, left open. He played tenaciously in the paint, and did get pretty physical.

Don't forget, Maurice Taylor had 9 boards as well, which is encouraging to me. Najera had a solid game, but he didn't do anything that stood out, he just played his brand of basketball. Hakeem and Cato only played 26 minutes COMBINED! There was no interior defensive force at all.

Next meeting, we will see if it works out the same way.

Im with Thanos I think TWash would contribute a whole lot more.Even after just 1 preseason game you should be able to tell this guy is a bust.Did you se the failed alley-oop he got,he wouldnt have got it anyway but damn he cant even get off the ground.I think its safe to say the Dream makes Collier look old!!!

Didn't Rudy trade Pryz for Collier AND a first round pick? Wait until the deal is completed before proclaiming it a bust.

This is ridiculous, but expected in this crowd.

Collier is not the focal point on this team in any way and never will be. It will take him some time to adjust to the physical play of the NBA. My only question is why waste time grooming a player for the NBA? Shouldn't they be ready for the NBA when they are drafted?? Some things I'll just never understand.

Collier didn't exactly have a sterling reputation coming out of college either. He was a floater with a questionable pro future then and he hasn't done anything to change that guess yet.

The trade isn't bad at face value, trading down a little and getting a pick can be a good move, but they traded down and reached on a player and won't get a lottery pick in return. It was a missed opportunity.

Collier could eventually develop into a solid reserve, but he might not even make it that far.

There's no reason to believe that Collier won't be a decent backup. There's also NO sign to suggest that Pryz will last in the NBA any longer than Collier will. 7 footers with NO offensive skills are not an overly valued commodity.
Let's remember that RudyT said that Collier was a "rotation type player" after training camp. He lumped Langhi into the same sentence. Langhi has been mighty impressive thus far, and if Collier's as much a rotation type player as Langhi is then I'm stoked!
Collier doesn't have to play 40 minutes a night. If he emerges as a 10 minute backup then I'm pretty happy - there's every reason to believe that he could be the next Sam Perkins.

Przybilla is expected to play about 10-15 minutes per game off the bench for Milwaukee. He's not ready either, and the Bucks know it. Pryz won't be worth much at all this season.

I was very encouraged by what I saw of Collier. He looks very confident in his outside shot, and he is big and sturdy. He has alot to learn, and will get better.

When I think of Houston's second team, with Moochie and Cat driving and dishing to Collier, Langhi, and KT, I get excited. What should a shot blocking center do when Cat drives? If he leaves Collier, he is giving up a high percentage shot. Give Collier some time, he is going to be good for the TEAM.

Id take anything that Rudy says with a grain of salt. He did say that he would go "three deep" in that Dallas game.

For what it's worth, here's Przybilla line tonight:

    10 pts
    6 reb
    1 ast
    3 blk

    19 mins.

    Not bad huh?

Przybilla had one decent preseason game against a team that really doesn't even have a backup center, or a decent starting one for that matter. And he played over twice as long as Collier, so the comparison is not valid. Big deal.

George Karl has already said that Pryzbilla shouldn't expect much PT, as he's going to play his proven veterans (Ervin Johnson, and Scot Williams, maybe others).
