The Master Django Unchained Beasts of the Southern Wild Moonrise Kingdom Lincoln Looper The Hobbit The Dark Knight Rises Argo
Beasts of the Southern Wild was so... mediocre. Don't see what the fuss is all about. Sure, it's heartwarming but not much more than that.
From the one's I have seen, these kind of stick out: 1. The Avengers 2. The Hunger Games 3. The Dark Knight Rises 4. 21 Jump Street 5. The Amazing Spider-man With that said, I haven't seen: The Hobbit, Lincoln, Life of Pi, Skyfall, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Looper, and Perks of Being a Wallflower. I need to up my "movie watching" game.
Avengers Wreck-it Ralph Hobbit Hunger games Looper Dark Knight Rises Amazing Spiderman Bourne Legacy Taken 2 Skyfall
What did people like about the hunger games besides Jennifer Lawrence's boobs I found the movie to be hugely disappointing. Maybe high expectations but the main characters were such terrible actors
Woody Harrelson? Elizabeth Banks? Stanley Tucci? Jennifer Lawrence? I'll just assume you're not talking about them. I wasn't crazy about Liam Hemsworth, but he wasn't bad. He portrayed the character well. Josh Hutcherson nailed Peeta. Lenny Kravitz... was pretty bad as Cinna, I'll grant you that. Who was it you didn't like?
I don't remember all that I saw, but here are some that I enjoyed: The Avengers The Hunger Games Dark Knight Rises Skyfall Spider-Man Prometheus The Cabin in the Woods The Raid Chronicle Want to see but haven't yet: Looper The Comedy Django Unchained Moonrise Kingdom Seven Psychopaths Hitchcock Much Ado About Nothing And I'll probably see The Hobbit someday even though I have no desire to.
My top 10 favorite films of 2012, all in no particular order The Hobbit Prometheus Moonrise Kingdom The Dark Knight Rises The Master Silver Lining Playbook Lincoln Life of Pi Django UnChained Les Miserables My least favorite films Silent House Wrath of the Titans Chernobyl Diaries Snow White and the Huntsman Total Recall Resident Evil Retribution Paranormal Activity 4 Biggest surprises Pitch Perfect Cloud Atlas Wreck-it Ralph Chronicle
i rewatched the The Dark Knight Rises this past weekend and although i really like it on its initial viewing, now i think it's a pile of guano. the movie is just blah. Spoiler batman fighting in the streets in midday. bane's stupid voiceover. Commisioner Gordon taking down batmobiles, rolling around with a nuclear bomb. batman being incapacitated by a single blade...on and on and on. TDKR should get a nomination for worst movie of the year.
Lawless, Cabin in the Woods, Chronicle and End of Watch were all very good if you guys haven't seen any of them.
Jennifer Lawrence was terrible. I've only seen her in this and xmen first class and was severely disappointed from all the hype she gets. Supporting cast was generally very good. Stanley tucci was superb as always. Elizabeth banks was also a surprise. Josh Hutcherson was also very terrible. Maybe not reading the books makes it different but the love story was so forced I couldn't tell if it was real or not and felt overall let down by the poor acting by them 2 the most
the love story was forced on purpose. it's a direct adaptation of the book. i don't think the director did a very good job of it though. i can see why it could be confusing in the movie.
I actually preferred the way it was handled in the movie better, since you got a feeling she was a little confused in the end too. The book just forced it way too much.
Well, agree to disagree. I've just never heard people speak negatively about Lawrence in any movie. But I can understand saying that the love story was forced. It was kind of forced in the books as well. Initially, there was no love angle to the story at all but at the publisher's insistence the author added it. I will admit I am biased because I did read the books and they did such a great job adapting it to a movie. They didn't change much, and what they did change was either for the better (those beasts at the end were lame, but it was even worse in the book) or was inconsequential.
1. Moonrise Kingdom 2. Avengers 3. The Dark Knight Rises 4. Argo 5. Django 6. Skyfall 7. Looper 8. Amazing Spider Man 9. Hobbit And those are the only nine new movies I saw in theaters this year. None of which are the three best movies I saw in a theater this year. 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark (as part of the Indiana Jones marathon) 2. Lawrence of Arabia (50th anniversary showing) 3. The Dark Knight (Batman marathon before TDKR)
No particular order, Good: The Campaign Avengers Cabin in the Woods Looper Prometheus Cloud Atlas decent, but didn't wow me: Dark Knight Rises 21 Jump Street Dredd The Raid Perks of a Wallflower Skyfall End of Watch Complete TRASH: Amazing Spiderman Hunger Games Taken 2 Chronicle Ted Moonrise Kingdom Haven't seen: The Master Hobbit Life of Pi Silver Linings Playbook Django
Yeah, I forgot about Chronicle. So a revision... 1.The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 2.Life Of Pi 3.Django Unchained 4.Looper 5.Prometheus 6.The Avengers 7.Chronicle 8.The Amazing Spider-Man 9.Skyfall 10.The Dark Knight Rises/Dredd/John Carter/The Grey
Somewhat agree. I thought it was ok the first time but it never really grabbed me. I thought that maybe I was just having an off day or something but after watching it again...it's a slightly above average movie at best. Maybe I expected too much since TDK was so good.
I saw very few movies this year, and those I did were mostly on DVD/rented. Hard to believe Prometheus is on so many people's top lists. That wasn't a good movie. I did like 21 Jump Street a lot more than I expected, though.
Rewatched all 3 Batman along with the bonus disc that came with TDKR Bluray this holiday. The stylistic difference between 1 and 2 is pretty jarring when viewed back-to-back, but it's also nice to see the series' maturation/transformation. TDKR probably strikes the best balance out of the 3. When viewed back-to-back, TDK doesn't seem so obviously superior to TDKR, though Ledger's performance remains a tour-de-force. The explanations included on the bonus disc gave me new appreciation for TDKR, but perhaps also highlights its failure as a movie due to things that didn't quite come through in the movie itself. In any event, my list goes: 1. TDKR (post-Bluray viewing) 2. TDKR 3. Avengers 4. Skyfall Spoiler (not sure why I'd watch this after having seen TDK - it feels so derivative) Eh, I guess those were the only movies that drew me into the theaters in 2012.
