arians and little shanahan are going to get some run with all of these openings. it makes you wonder if jack del rio and josh mcdaniels will get run so soon after they were fired as HCs.
Kyle Shanahan is a truly great OC. Not one of these fake flash in the pan ones. Not sure he's ready to become a head coach but I'd like to see it.
They'd need to replace him with somebody who can get more out of the talent than he did which was always a strong suit for Lovie, he did a lot with very little talent over his tenure. Wouldn't want an OC taking his first HC job but I get the feeling they'll go that route. Mike McCoy's success had nothing to with Peyton....
I'm a Bears fan as well and the only OC/DC I'd be ok with as a head coach is McCoy. It's not the direction I want to see them go in but I'm ok with it if it is McCoy.

If you know the Bears, you know they don't spend money on coaches. That's a part of their DNA. It won't be a retread like Cower asking for the moon or a shiny whizz-bang toy from college who will command the dollars like Chip Kelly. McCoy fits the Bears' profile.
Firing a guy after a 10 win season? That is harsh. Gary Kubiak won 10 games last year and he got an extension, and Kubs has never been to the SB either.
Kubiak gets an extension for a 6-10 season. Bob is too loyal. He did have a 10 win season but missed the playoffs after starting 7-1. Same thing happened last year, ALTHOUGH you can excuse it (if you want) with injuries to Forte and Cutler. They did lose Urlacher this year. Ehh injuries, all teams have them. They just had trouble getting that offense going, on a consistent or semi-consistent basis. Not as if they didn't try though, with 4 different OC's during Lovie's time there but it just wasn't happening. 28th in offense? That's inexcusable. Still need fixing on that offensive line too. And as previously mentioned, yes, he had a Super Bowl appearance but 3 playoff appearances in 9 years, 1 in the last 6? Come on! I guess time will only tell if this was the right or wrong move and also see who they hire. Not a popular move, to say the least. With all that said, best of luck to Lovie. He'll have no problem finding a job, if not now, sooner rather than later.
i had the "goodfellas" score playing in my head while I read this thread. "They found shurmur's body in a meat truck. He was so frozen they had to wait 5 days for him to thaw out. " in a pass happy league, andy reid should be the first one of those listed to find a happy home. Running backs, what are those for?
WOW, I knew the ax was coming for some of these, but the Bears is a shock. Have there ever been this many coaches and GMs fired in a single day in NFL history?
Just think, these are the head coaches. There's no telling how many coordinators and assistants under them are goners as well.
This I'm not too sure about anymore. The hiring of Emery, the trade for Marshall and the good draft followed by the letting Lovie go with a year left to go on the contract? Maybe Virginia McCaskey is finally letting the GM actually do his job now without mico managing. That's part of the reason I feel like the old "Bears DNA" argument may be falling to the wayside. This. I needed Lovie fired. Not that I didn't think he was a good coach - thought he was great. However, it was clear that with only 3 playoff apperances in the last few years with a great boat of talent on this team, he just hasn't shown that he can help players grow or hire OC's that can get the job done with the tools in place. It was also clear that the players had gotten too comfortable and he was TOO much of a players coach. That comfort level left open so many holes that could've been fixed because he trusted his players to fix their mistakes and apologized for them. He was more a dad then a coach. Most players are pissed about the firing for that reason alone. They needed the dad influence in their lives. A lot of players on this team are living on name and folklore more so than talent. Lovie was covering for them and the teams performance on the field suffered as a result. Now we move forward. The fact that Lovie was fired so systematically, immediately after the end of the season, makes me believe that Emery already has been talking to coaching options all season and is ready to make the move within the week. Looking forward to it.
Unbelievable that Rex Ryan is staying. Is the same person/people responsible for the Tebow signing still on board? This feels just like the same kind of publicity-over-performance type of decision.
