Apparently, the only people to take Creed more seriously than their fans ... are the bandmembers themselves.
creed sucks, and I know LTJ and Lagwagon. I know of KMFDM. And i've heard Rammstein. Avril is uh, okay Shakira, you and me, wherever, whenever, you and I should be together. What's the next line? You could always lick my ear? just kidding, i know what it is.
Ah, Accept, with the Mini-Me of heavy metal, Udo Dirkschneider on vocals. The guy was like 4 feet tall and wore nothing but army fatigues! Their big hit: Balls to the Wall
Creed is uberawful. Why are those guys so serious? Geez. NOFX is a nice band, as is No Doubt. I knew a guy who was a huge fan of Less than Jake back in the day, but i never really got into their music. Manny, I bet you would like Interpol. The band, not the internat'l police. If you're interested, download "Stella Was a Diver." They've been compared to Joy Division and Smiths, just so you kinda know what to expect. They're also comin' to town real soon, at the Engine Room...it's gonna be a sweet show.
Chicken Boy, Thanks for the tip on Interpol. I had seen them on my "recommendation" list from Amazon; I'll have to check them out. Okay, Rockets2K, the following is a list of CDs I own, listed by artist, that I consider "punk" with explanations of artists that fall into a "grey" area. Bad Brains - Bad Brains Bad Religion - All Ages Black Flag - Damaged Blink 182 - Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch - Note: all Blink albums before Enema of the State are considered punk by me Buzzcocks, The - Singles Going Steady Clash, The - Combat Rock, London Calling, The Clash (US Version) Costello, Elvis - My Aim Is True, This Year's Model - Note: a lot of people consider Elvis to be new wave but he definitely has some punk stuff and his first 2 albums are a good indication of this. Cure, The - Boys Don't Cry - Note: Their American debut (the British debut was called "Three Imaginary Boys") and really the only punk CD they did...a very IMPORTANT post-punk band just like The Smiths, Joy Division (became New Order), and REM Damned, The - Damned Damned Damned Dead Kennedys, The - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables Descendents, The - Milo Goes to College Gang of Four - Entertainment - Note: Some people consider them more "post-punk" than punk, but this is their masterpiece and worth picking up Green Day - Dookie Hell, Richard & the Voidoids - Blank Generation - Note: Part of the legendary CBGB scene in New York along with Talking Heads, Blondie, Television, and Patti Smith Husker Du - Zen Arcade - Note: You can argue that it is not really punk but this is a band that influenced a lot of other bands including punk bands Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power - Note: Forerunner of punk along with the New York Dolls, MC5, and the Velvet Underground Killing Joke - Killing Joke - Note: Debut of an overlooked band that had various styles including punk Lagwagon - Hoss, Let's Talk About Feelings Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview, Losing Streak MC5 - Kick Out the Jams - Note: See comment on Iggy's Raw Power Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The - Let's Face It - Note: Well-known ska band Minor Threat - Complete Discography Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime Misfits, The - Collection II, The Misfits New York Dolls - The New York Dolls - Note: See comment on Iggy's Raw Power NOFX - Punk in Drublic Offspring, The - Ixnay on the Hombre, Smash - Note: all Offspring albums before "Americana" are considered punk by me Operation Ivy - Operation Ivy (Energy) - Note: My pick as the greatest punk album of all-time; 2 of these guys would later form Rancid Pennywise - About Time, Full Circle Ramones, The - Rocket to Russia, The Ramones Rancid - …And Out Comes the Wolves, Let's Go Replacements, The - Tim - Note: Like Husker Du, the Replacements may not really be a punk band but they are highly influential Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks Here Comes the Sex Pistols Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation, Dirty - Note: Another highly influential band that has some punk elements in their stuff Sublime - Sublime - Note: Hard to classify them but I think they have some punk in some of their songs Talking Heads - Remain in Light - Note: See note on Richard Hell Television - Marquee Moon - Note: See note on Richard Hell Warsaw (Joy Division) - Warsaw - Note: Joy Division's actual debut CD ("Unknown Pleasures" was the first CD released by "Joy Division"), this CD was like "Boys Don't Cry" as it was the band's only actual "punk" CD - like the Cure, Joy Division was a HIGHLY influential post-punk band. Man, I thought had more punk/quasi-punk CDs than that!
These are the only bands I like off the list. Blink 182 just seems so kiddyish now a days. THe Cure might be my favorite band. I'd like to see Morrissey and Robert Smith in Fox's Celebrity boxing. The only song from DK I really listen to is Holiday in Cambodia, and that's about it. I like Sublime, but I don't want to seem cynical, but I only think Sublime is good or great is because their frontman died. Don't get me wrong, Sumblime was one of the better bands of the 90s.
Manny: Go now, right freaking now, to your nearest record store & buy the following Fugazi cds (in order of my preference): 13 Songs Repeater Steady Diet of Nothing Trust me, your life will be better for it.
Fu-gazi? More like...For-Geezers! har har har. Seriously though, Repeater is a great album. Is 13 songs the newest one? Oh and Manny, I also think you would like the Avalanches. "Since I Left You" is party-pop-techno-dance-club-ambience perfection.
13 songs was the album before Repeater, released in '90 or '91 I think. I haven't liked their most recent 2 or 3 albums nearly as much as the 3 I listed.
