I think we rebounded fairly well last night. The glaring problem was interior defense, IMO. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Rebounding-wise, I was generally impressed with the Rockets performance. Mo Taylor did a great job, pulling down every rebound that he had a chance at, and some that it seemed he didn't. Steve seemed to be in a rebounding mindset, drawing some oohs and ahhs from the crowd when he jumped HIGH for a few. And Shandon had a monster rebounding night. Also, I was again impressed by Kenny Thomsas's fire for getting offensive rebounds. He did not seem at all in sync offensively, but he did great on the boards. ------------------ "Nothing is certain but the unforseen." Some Dude
If the Rockets don't drastically improve their rebounding this year, they will remain a lottery team. There is no excuse for athletic big men like Cato and Taylor to not average at least 8 to 9 rebounds per game. ------------------
If they must improve anything this year it must be their defense. You can't even begin to count the number of games we lost because of poor defense. Last night wasn't a bad defensive night, but there is still room for improvement, primarily when it comes to boxing out. Oh yeah, they also need to cut down the turnovers. 18-22 turnovers a game is outrageous and will quickly kill any chance of us making the playoffs. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. The Rockets outrebounded Dallas 61-50 last night. They did, however, end up with 22 turnovers. Impressive even for the Rockets. If you're talking about rebounding in general, and not just as a kneejerk reaction to Najera's performance, I still think the Rockets are a decent rebounding team, as has been discussed at length and backed up by the numbers. ------------------ "I'd like to be going down Fourth Avenue in a parade with all the graffiti coming down on our heads." -- Patrick Ewing, showing off that Georgetown edumacation.
