If we make the playoffs, will Daryl Morey get GM of the year?

Mitch traded a guy who doesn't even play for the best center in the league. I hate the lakers.

This, and they picked up steve Nash. Despite the Lakers not doing well he has been able to turn **** into Gold. There are a ton of ****ty GMs in the league, and what people say is true, but for a winning team Morey is above average at best.

Emphasis on the quotations on "responsible" for getting DH and Nash.

Those two players forced their way into that team much like Lebron and Bosh did. All their GMs had to do was say "OKAY!"

And there were a ton of people here who wanted Morey to trade half our team for Bynum. Thankfully, we didn't do it.

Mitch is a good GM, but the reality is that its not a very hard job to be the GM of the Lakers. Mainly because all of the premier stars want to play for the Lakers because of their rich history, because of the Hollywood factor, because basketball is the only game in town for Los Angeles and because LA is one of the greatest places on the planet to live assuming you have money. Swap Morey with Kupchak and the Lakers would still be competing for championships every year, while Rockets scrape up table scraps from other teams to try and build a makeshift squad that can compete for an 8th seed.

NBA is a star driven league, more so than any other team sport. If a star decides he will only play for the Lakers and not any other team, well there isn't much Morey can do about that. Likewise, its incredibly stupid to credit Mitch Kupchak for stars falling into his lap.

The Lakers traded away most of their draft picks in the Nash and Howard deals. I think it will be 2018 until they get another first round pick. Mitch basically leveraged everything on a two year window. If the Lakers don't end up winning a title in next two years, and if Howard bolts at the end of the year, the Lakers could end up at the bottom of the league for several years. Unless they think they could get Lebron or Durant, which I doubt.

No doubt, Morey is GM Of The Year. We are the next upcoming team, by next year, it would not surprise me if we are one of the top 4. Almost, or most NBA publications pick the Rockets close to the basement. I know ESPN mag pick them last, if not close to last. Harden has become a 1st-tier player, Asik has become probaly the best free-agent pickup of this past off-season (and a lock to win Most Improved Player) and Lin becoming the player who was Linsanity. We picked up Delfino at a real bargain, his game will help Rockets win some games with his 3s. This team had only 1 starter back from last year, it is almost impossible to have the record we with so many turnover in players. And he handled R.White's fiasco the right way, in-house. Morey took the risk, it is paying off.

Bob Myers of the Golden State is more likely to win the title at this moment.

Kinda drives you crazy... We put up some big wins and Morey is a big hero but with some big losses he's the goat. Emotional swings just seem to amplify peoples perceptions of the reality of any situation. I guess that's why they call us fans.

Whether he wins it or not, I hope we keep him for the next 10 years.

Rewarding a guy who was balantly tanking last year would be horrible.

Mitch Kupchak should win it unless the Lakers failed to make the playoffs (highly unlikely).
