Clutch what is with KT being so quiet and reserved during camp? I ask because I'm concerned that he isn't comfortable with his role on this team and obvious reduction in minutes with Mo' taking his starting spot. Did he seem like he was fitting in with the guys? Was he excited at all about the upcoming season? I ask because he is going to be Mo's backup and could play a cruicial role in the Rockets making the playoffs. If he is uncomfortable with his role, I have a hunch he may not be around the entire season or next season. ------------------ Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. He's obviously mad because MO is gonna take a lot of his minutes. Hopefully, he won't continue his sulking because we need him as a quality backup. Even more important, I hope he doesnt wreck our team chemistry. We all were worried that MO would screw up our chemistry. But with him fittin in so well, now it looks like we have to keep our eyes on Kenny. ------------------ president of the dan langhi fan club.
he is the type to mope around and sulk though. Remember when barkley got hurt and they asked his opinions regarding francis and thomas. For thomas, barkely was making fun of him b/c kenny was moping around the locker room becaue he wasnt getting minutes early in the season. Im sure atleast a little of this silent treatment has to do with mo taylor being here. ------------------
I feel for the guy lst year he got his feet wet I think he got a little comfortable I think he felt this was his BREAK OUT season. Mo changed all that . . Now he has to be Extra careful to not be traded whereas last year and maybe going into this year if not for mo . . .he could go all out . . .make mistakes. . .now i think he probably feels Mistake could send him to Vancouver for a ham sammich and some change Rocket River I GOT YA BACK KT ------------------
The Wall of God will likely start at Center. Cato doesn't have much to sulk about. He's going to get big minutes from Tee. If anyone is going to be hurt it's Kenny Thomas. He's going to lose big minutes, but that is what happens in the NBA circus sometimes. He's got to bide his time. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Well if I were KT, I'd be concerned about my standing on the team. Obviously Mo will be getting all the hype at the 4, and Kenny really never got things going at the REVUE this year. Clutch never really reported a strong showing from him at camp. So what has he done? We keep hearing Cato's bulked up, his attitude could be better. Taylor's fitting in very well so far. Dream is looking good. Even Collier has had flashes. And KT has quietly done pretty much nothing. I would be concerned/upset/frustrated, too. ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
I could understand KT being fustrated, but if he's going to sulk, he's going to piss off the coaching staff very quickly, I'd imagine. He should take this set back as motivation to push harder and get better. That's what coaches like to see -- players trying to overcome adversity, not sulking like childern. If he sulks for long he may accelerate hes exit from the team exponentially or solidify himself a place on the IR. Sack up Kenny. ------------------ - hoopjunkie www.GotstaGetsPaid.com
Maybe I'm wrong but I think you guys are misreading the situation. He looks like a kind of moody guy, but I think its just his persona. Even when he pulled off pretty big plays last year, he didn't take that blank ,kind of angry look off his face. I don't see him suffering for minutes too badly this year anyway. Sure, Mo is going to get the bulk of the 4 time, but KT is definitely ahead of Carlos and Bull. Plus, he is the ONLY PF we have under contract for next year besides Rogers, and I fully expect Carlos to be dealt. I think the Rockets will develop and protect KT this year - he is cheap insurance if we can't land Mo or Weber next year. ------------------ Maybe all the rulers are wrong. Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
First, The Rockets will not trade KT unless they are SURE that Mo will be staying. 2nd, I think KT should be a little depressed. He proved to me that he could be a good player in the NBA, maybe better then MO, but he is not going to really get a chance to prove it, because the Rockets have to put MO in the game to make sure he comes back. I just hope Rudy can work him in more often with Mo. KT deserves a chance to grow, otherwise he may come back and haunt us when he leaves. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
I think this is the perfect situation for Thomas. Right now he doesn't have the skills to be a starting PF in the NBA. He has no defensive skills, and if he continues to shoot .399 from the field, then I don't want him shooting at all. But, he can do one thing well that would be nice to have coming off the bench and that's rebound. If this guy can improve his defense, I think he'll have a long and prosperous career in the NBA. I doubt he'll ever become an all-star, but he could develop into a solid contributor. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
I personally don't feel Kenny is owed much of anything. He hardly proved anything. He DID prove he could play in the NBA, but whether he could be a 6th man is even still in doubt. The market for a starting PF with a sub .400 FG% is just not all that large. He didn't come to camp with a vengeance and was hardly impressive in the REVUE. However, he wouldn't be bad to keep around (I'd still rather let him loose for a banger down low.) He could be a key situational guy, against say, Portland. They go with a front line of Sabonis-Kemp-Wallace, we could counter with Cato-Taylor-Thomas, in an attempt not to get crushed on the boards. As far as minutes go, in the preseason, that'd be an ideal time to mix and match lineups. Getting MoTay minutes in the preseason with guys he'll be playing with will be important. We shouldn't push Steve too much, but MoTay should be in at the same time as Steve as much as possible. Also, Mo should get time with Hakeem AND Cato. Learning how to share the block with each, and communicating on things like the boards (CB and Hakeem had trouble because both wanted the lowpost, and both were most effective there, so it hurt our balance.) Mo learning the team and the offense is probably among the most important things. Langhi and Collier both feed off the system, it can create for them, they just have to know where they need to be. Mo has the ability to create, and figures to play a large role. Getting him to understand where he should be at all times, and when he can create on offense is a key to this whole season. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. I hope you guys are correct that he's not actually pissed, but just a brooding individual. He will function as a solid bench player/contributor as long as he has the right attitude.
Nike I personally don't feel Kenny is owed much of anything. He hardly proved anything. Anyone that has read your post would know you would be in favor of anything that is againest Thomas. you have not liked the man since he was drafted, you would be willing to trade him for a Firestone Wilderness tire. He is in every "could be" trade you have posted. If you don't like the man just say so and quit beating around the bush. To the ones that watched all the games last year, didn't you notice he didn't get excited when he was doing good and it didn't seem to get him when he was doing bad. I think that is his demeaner and he just plays. Rudy knows about what he is like and will deal with it. ------------------
Kenny Thomas is in a very analogous situation to Mobley's last year. Mobley should be a great model for Kenny T. Shandon came in and was entitled to all the minutes, but Mobley stepped up and his play forced Rudy T to get him minutes. I want Kenny to do the same. I want to see him command minutes at the four AND the three. I want him hustling for that extra rebound. I want him practicing that favorite three point shot of his after practice for hours like little Bryce Drew used to. If he does that, he'll prove the world wrong and be a great asset to this potential playoff team! ------------------
Have I ever beat around the bush about not liking KT? I've said it flat out more than my fair share of times. 40% shooting power forwards simply don't stick around the league unless they have some attribute that MAKES them stick. KT either has to completely change his style of play (quit jacking up bad 3s and dropping passes in the post) or not expect to be a big minute player in this league. Asking a guy to completely change his game is a lot to ask. He was a below league average starting power forward. Or if you want to argue he was league average, he was certainly a below Western Conference average starting PF. Unfortunately for him, there weren't many players he would be able to leapfrog. His defense is less than stellar (mainly due to his lack of height, and while a big body, not Malone-like when it comes to strength), and he was very turnover prone on offense. The best he can fit for this team would be a bench guy who spreads the defense. I feel that a player whose style is different than Mo would benefit us much greater than Kenny (ie: a player who doesn't score much, but is very physical, can rebound/defend, and/or block shots, basically a PF version of Cato). ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
I had similar thoughts 'pimp. I hope he's not sulking. He's got to bide his time, work on his game, and take the opportunities that arise. He should expect nothing more than to be a bckup at this point in his career. He's not exactly a lottery pick.
